Which is more important for growth/recovery: FOOD or REST?

Would it be better if I got 10 hours sleep and ate 6 meals a day (including PWO shake), or better to have 8 hours sleep and fit in that extra meal before bed.

BTW, I'm ectomorph, if that makes any difference.

I don't think you will notice much of a difference either way, but 10 hours does seem like quite a while to go without eating. I would consider slamming a protein shake when u wake up in the middle of the night to go pee pee.

ha! 8 hours? Try like 5 which is my usual. Between College, HW, and ROTC...sleep just isnt there. Some days I take an hour nap in the afternoon if I'm lucky

I know the feeling and I just got school and practice.

I can allot as much time as I wish for sleep but if my body or mind decides to wake up I don't get a vote. If you have a calorie surplus you will grow one way or another but for recovery you have to be prepared to rest and, preferably, sleep.

I'd rather miss a workout than miss a meal.Sometimes it does me good to miss the odd workout so my body gets extra recovery time since I hammer it so much. But if I miss a meal I feel like I've lost 10kg.

Id go with extra food over sleep. Eight hours should be enough anyway.

I need the sleep over food. I can eat all I want and still feel like shit if I don't get sleep after a leg day or back day....
