What kind of shoes do you squat/deadlift in?

I do it all in wrestling shoes.

I like my feet flat on the ground, and the ankle support they give.

I have nothing against oly lifting shoes, but for me, instead of spending he money, I'll place a small piece of wood under my heels for the elevation, and unless I've missed something, the oly lifting shoes I've seen don't have any ankle support.

I've been looking for either some Chuck's or some wrestling shoes. No one seems to carry them in size 14-15.

It's tough having big feet sometimes.

Interesting, well as long as you tried them both, you obviously know what works for you. Heck, if youre squatting 600+ pounds in chucks that says something. They are flat and stable, and I can see how that would work. Have you ever tried squatting/pulling in the adidas shoes? What did you think?

I've squatted 800 in Chucks...and many others have squatted well over a grand. I've also pulled over 700(raw) in them too.

I've tried the Adidas OL shoes for squats and deads...and they just don't feel very well at all. You can not spread the floor in OL shoes (for squats) and the OL shoes throw you fwd for pulls. The easiest part of the pull isn't the lockout...most people miss the pull as they get to their knees...

I wear a good 16 in all shoes but should have got 15's in Chucks.

depends on how you squat, most people here squat power lifter style where you want a flat base and their ankles don't bend much.

if you front squat and oly squat, you don't want ankle support - you need max ankle motion.

And IMO ankle support is a waste of time anyway - never helped stopped sprained ankles so why would it help you when your squating? :)

I have seen a few powerlifters compete in oly shoes, but they tend to be people who squat fairly regularly, and not the super wide stance style, where you would tip :)
