What angle should an incline press be?

30 is max for me... I actually prefer the 15-20 range.

It used to be we didn't have incline benches. They didn't have as much equipment available back in the '70s. Back then an "incline" was you put a couple 45 lbs plates or a brick under the bench to lift one end. That is all you need... a very slight lift.

just depends on your preferenance and goal. if you want to involve a lot of delts then 45 and above. but for chest. 15-30. thats just what i like.

Hmmm, so what would you guys recommend if the only incline benches in my gym are fixed at 45? I'm doing 5x5 so I don't really want to use dumbbells (can only go up by 10 total and not 5). There's no power rack I can use to rack the bar and put an adjustable bench under it...

I have heard of people using a flat bench and lifting one side up using plates or blocks of some kind to the desired angle.

since starting strongman i have used 45degree and above. but when training to build a more developed chest, preferred just a slight incline. it all depends on your goals. swain, what is an arch deluxe??? is it an incline that pre-arches your back for u??

I might try that. But it seems like that would make the rack be at an angle, too, which could be dangerous. Unless you meant just lifting up a regular flat bench and not the kind with the built-on rack. In that case, I have nowhere to rack it - same problem as before.

Yes, I meant a flat bench with a separate rack, or in a power cage.
