Weighted pullups

after a month long layoff,. I decided to hit back. I started out with some hang cleans, and then proceeded to do some weighted pullups. Shoulder width, starting first with a ten lb plate for five. tried an additional dime and could only get three and a half, dead hang, mind you. after this grueling exercise, my back has formed a different shape now, I have more of a V-shape, and on top of that, I acquired some stretch marks on my biceps.

Awesome freaking exercise

:fro:

Nice, i just got a belt and am excite to start adding weight to my pullups.

can you feel a difference a lot by adding ten pounds ? does that make it that much harder, ive never tried weighted ones before

:) i just took a week off and i'm going to do weighted pullups tomorrow! :D i can't wait! being out of the gym sucks!

The repeated bout effect acts to prevent muscle growth. After a period of lifting heavy loads, your muscles are resistant to further damage and growth. At this point, it is in your benefit to take 1-2 weeks off from training. This allows your muscles to become sensitive to training again.

It seems counterintuitive. Generally when someone doesn't make progress, the instinct is to work harder. It does take a large measure of self-control to stay out of the gym for two weeks, let me tell ya :)

weighted pullups are awesome. not only do they give your back a kickass appearance, but you get a ton of grip/forearm work from em as well. and it makes bodyweight chinups INSANELY easy.
