is there anything else i should or could be doing to give me an edge this year has to be my year as its my last year in high school

any comments or suggestions are welcome!!

If you don't already, you should definitely be on a diet with that much working out. + sleep is very important. Just the basics is all i can think of

ive never ran the 400 competitively this is my first year i used to do the mile and 800 but since im trying for more muscle i went to the 400 because its more of a sprint vs a long distance
my fastest 800 last year was around 2:06 ish ive gotten a hell of a lot stronger and my endurance has not really gone away once i get into running again itll come back to where it was

track is in spring, so he's got a tiny bit longer

I don't think so. Most High School track practices started 2 weeks ago. Track meets start 1st of March.

Leg weights should mostly be for offseason imho. It is too hard do get a good track workout when you are also working the legs with weights. At this point I think you need to focus on working out as hard as you can and preparing to hit the weight room next offseason.

got to disagree with you 100%.. specifucity training is what you need to be a better runner... any weight training for the legs take away your stregth/power for what the main focus is. running. lets say hes running 60 second quarters in training. how can he get to 58's with very tired legs from leg training? look at the best in the world over the years.the old english guys , the guys frm new zeland. now the african nations ethopia and kenya. running. and more running. peter snell, dick quax, emil puttemans, yifter, ryan, boit, kino, foster, wottle. all ran... a bit of weights in the very off season. thats it.
hill training, running in tall grass, running in sand. all resistance training, but still running, recruiting RUNNING MUSCLE FIBERS.
