Hi Ladies, I am new here, been lurking for awhile..but I have read a few posts talking about peoples role models..Timea being one of them. Well, has anyone seen this months issue of Oxygen....holy crap, she has lost all of her muscle and is now extremely thin. This is in her quest to become an actress. I am just tripping out at how she looks nothing like her old self, and how someone as muscular as she can now really look like someone who does pilates rather than weight lifting, toned but very thin.

I know!!!! I picked that issue up yesterday and was shocked to how little she looks. There seems to be "downsizing" theme amongst the fitness women in that issue. Vicky Pratt also mentioned she had lost weight/muscle and felt better about her body, etc.. Kinda makes me sad because I really looked up to many of these athletes because they were built similarly to me and seemed proud of the way they looked. Now, it seems like maybe they weren't so happy after all.

It just shows many how fickle the media and these fitness chicks are or can be.

As well as shows many that maybe, just maybe, it's time not to look at these chicks as role-models (for fitness) and to start looking at yourselves as a source of your own inspiration.

Do what you want to do and go where you want to go with your bodies.

As for Timea, I hope she can act. Really act. Like astound every casting director with her acting ability since she has lost the one thing that would have set her apart from all the other "rail thin" actresses (and wannabe's) - her beautiful muscle.

I agree about the downsizing. Kelly Ryan said she came into her last comp lighter and with less muscle and she did better in the placings, as well as I noticed in the same Oxygen issue, Adela Friedmansky's legs look a lot leaner, and she was in an article about leaning out. Maybe a lot of the older ocmpetitors are ooking to go towards figure contests in the near future because the fitness routines are a little harder on their bodies as they get older.

Have you ever seen the fitness pros in person? They do resemble lightweight bodybuilders - they're thicker than you'd think from seeing their pictures. That's actually a look I like, but I can see why some of them choose to drop muscle when pursuing modeling contracts/acting jobs.

Plus, there's some obvious chemical abuse going on in the pros - this can be both an expensive and "hard on your body/hair/skin" situation. I'd have to guess some of them are looking to leave that vicious cycle behind. Many of the women have poor complexions, are reduced to using hair extensions because their hair is brittle and dry, and honestly look 5-10 years older than they really are. Everytime I go to a pro event, I come back very relieved with my non-AAS choice.

Elightening post J.J.. I've always wondered how prevalent drug use is in the fitness arena.

the girls take as much as the guys (maybe not dosage-wise), coupled with all the cosmetic stress involved. new lips, new boobs etc.

God, I'm so embarassingly naieve. I knew some did, but assumed most were natural or used very little. Then again, Kelly, Adela, and a few others have been looking a little harsh.

At the Jan Tana classic, I'd guess the only Fitness pro not using some form of chemicals is the girl who got the last callouts. Can't remember her name, but I saw her up close at the VIP dinner and she looked like a natty.

Oh, please...looking harsh? If we said they were all natural you'd never known the wiser. Do all the women and children with AIDS taking Ox look harsh? Now that I mention it, do they? Competitors probably look harsh because of tanning and a hard lifestyle of cutting, bulking, cutting, bulking, cutting, etc...eating foods completely devoid of nutritional content for the sake of looking "ripped" will do a number on your skin and hair as well.

...and it wouldn't have just been lately that they started looking harsh, if you're going to attribute it solely to AS/AAS, because they've been on drugs for years. A lot of these ladies aren't exactly spring chickens.
