for those of you with implants, How long did you have to stay out of the gym? And once you were back, were your activities very limited? I am going for my consult on Tuesday and just would like to have your feeback before I go.

Thanks for any responses

A plastic surgery website I found real helpful when I had plastic surgery last May was www.makemeheal.com. It helped me prepare for before and after my surgery. My only complaint is many of the women baby themselves and were not into working out. The information was great. The women were whiney. There were woman who wouldn't workout for a year after surgery. I entered a powerlifting meet 7 months after my surgery. I had full tummy tuck, muscle repair on my abs and a breast lift.

Your doc will most likely tell you to give your chest a good month to heal - once you get past the initial healing part then it takes a few weeks to get back to full torso movement (e.g. turnign around to make a left turn or look behind u to back up SUCKS). But if you don't do upper body stuff prior to then you can easily get in & do cardio (no running) and things that dont' require u to lift your arms up. Mostly you need to listen to your body and let it heal. If you spend time worrying about getting back in the gym before your body is ready you aren't helping yourself. Its so important to give your body the time it needs to heal.

But that said - I don't know how hard it is now to break up the scar tissue and just start workign your pec muscles again --- it took me a number of months to where my pecs didn't involuntarily contract and jump a lot and my whole chest was tight -- but you just keep working it --- I started training for my first competition 3 months after the surgery.

Also depends on if you get "unders" or "overs".

Pre-surgery regimen:
* 6 days a week of cardio, 45-60 minutes early a.m.
* 4 day split lifting at night/midday; large volume, putting on lots of muscle

I got "unders" back on November 20 (Thanksgiving week). I had it that Monday; the following Monday I was back at work (I'm a teacher, so I was really worried about having to be in front of the kids all day and how I'd feel, but I was just fine).

10 days after surgery I went for a walk outside for 45 minutes, coaching a club at school. 2 days later I did it again; felt great because I broke a sweat but it didn't hurt.

I found in those first 2 weeks, I just tired more easily doing common things. Teaching was okay but I didn't want to exert myself too much and reaching high up to wipe the board at school was uncomfortable the first 2 weeks.

At the 2 week mark, I went back to exercise/cardio, but no running. I did the stairmill because I could really get a great workout without using my arms or bouncing around. :D I continued with this 6 days a week IMMEDIATELY. My prior physical abilities came right back, no problems. First day back I did 40 minutes in the gym, no problems. All that extra sleep and rest helped a great deal!

At the 4 weeks mark, I was given full clearance by my surgeon to lift again. I had zero pain at this point, felt awesome, was doing ALL my cardio and my energy was back. I immediately hit the gym and went back to lifting -- the only thing I DID NOT do was lift directly on the chest. I waited another week to do chest/back and I took the weights WAY DOWN.

I just passed the 2 month mark and I'm not only back in full swing -- but my lifts are at all-time record highs, even my pre-surgery numbers. :)

I am THRILLED I did it. Just... words can't describe. :qt: I feel like a woman again, thank God.

The site I got info from was www.implantinfo.com Really great stuff there -- spent like 3 hours one night there doing homework. :D

Are you going over or under the muscle? It makes a difference in time off to heal. Mine was quick - I was back in the saddle in 2 weeks - but wasn't allowed to work my chest for a month.

Mine was under muscle and I am trying really hard to remember!!!LOL
I know I was not allowed to lift my arms for 15 days nor drive, I was allowed to "brisk walk" for the first 3 weeks trying not to swing arms....

well heres the deal...I plan on going under the muscle. I just find they look better later on if ya know what I mean. I plan on getting them done on a Wednesday and being back at work the following Monday. I have a behind the desk job that does not require me to do anything other than hold a phone, shuffle paperwork around, work on a computer and some back and forth to copy machine and fax machine so I hope I will be ok at work. I just started this job a couple months ago so I can't take extensive time off. I think my boss would have a heart attack cause I am the only one here who knows anything about mortgages. hahahaha

Oh and Florencia, I love the dancing chicken ;)

you won't be able to lift anything heavy, or lift your arms up above your head (I don't think) within that time frame. You'll get pain pills, but I think you're going to be hurting. As long as your boss knows what's going on, it should be OK.

I was back to work in a week, but mine was sub fascia. (over the muscle, under the fascia.) Mine look real in clothes - I think this is because I didn't get them super huge. Without clothes right now - they totally look fake - because I have no BF. But hey - the are fake - so not trying to hide that fact anyway.

good thing I have a fairly easy job just very very stressful but no lifting involved. I have not told my boss yet. All I told him was that I had a Dr.'s appt on Tuesday. hahaha One day I'll come to work and nothing and then the Monday, BAM!! lol I am just so damn excited that I finally get to get them done. When Frisky first got heres several years ago, I told her she was crazy and now, look at me. hahahaa

Oh and YAY for PAINPILLS!! I will be a zombie ;)
