Straight liquid egg whites ok?

I've heard you don't get the full protein amount if you don't cook it, but liquid egg whites are cheap as hell and pasteurized. Can I simply drink them straight for extra protein? I used to do this back in college and it seemed to work fine. K for help and experiences!! :)

I was recently told by an endocrinologist heavy into Powerlifting that this was true:

Raw egg whites contain a glycoprotein called avidin that is very effective at binding biotin, one of the B vitamins. The concern is that this can lead to a biotin deficiency. The average male should have an intake of 25mcg of Biotin every day and a high intake of Avidin will shut down intake of Biotin.

Although this can be counteracted by eating more yellows than whites, however not many bodybuilders wish to do so.

The solution is to cook the eggs, deactivating the adivin and solving the biotin deficiency problem.

Yes, I heard that, but I take extra Biotin, and also the egg whites are pasteurized, so the the avidin levels are much reduced. That past 4 days I've subbed alot of meats for egg whites, and I feel stronger and better than ever on a diet... seems to be working alright. Bought a 1-gallon jug of egg-whites yesterday, comes with a pump nozzle and everything :D

i use intl*** for my egg whites......w/pump..i love the stuff..i drink it straight,
sometimes mix some protein powder..and sometime cook to make an omlette

Drink them straight if you cant cook them. I dont see why you wouldnt want to cook them.. I had to drink them in college because I had no way to cook them and it was nasty because gunk from the whites would get stuck in your mouth.

I know, and it's no fat, no carbs, basically no cholesterol or sodium, just pure, high-quality egg protein, and it digests slower than whey. I'm switching alot of my protein to egg to see what happens!
