Soy is disgusting!

The first time I bought whey protein, I got it from GNC and it was called "Designer Protein." I bought it in Chocolate. At first I didn't like it very much, but only because I mixed it with water. Since trying it with skim milk, i can enjoy it much more--it's still not the best, but its ok.

Since then I was browsing around the organic dept at Kroger's and saw this stuff- "Super High Protein"- with a terrific nutrtion label and it was on sale, the only problem was it didn't say anywhere about having any kind of flavor to it. I bought it even tho i was suspicious.

This stuff turned out to be AWFUL! I absolutely hate the taste of soy, and it contains a lot of it, I should have read the ingrediants before buying it. Plus, it taste like the smell of play-dough!

Has anyone else tried this crap? Any horror stories regarding protein powder, or do you have ideas of better protein powders available at Gnc or The Vitamin Store? These are the only stores I have access to, and Krogers has no selection. Just that crap.

I'm looking for something very low in saturated fat and sugar.

Hmm... sounds like you bought some "unflavored" soy protein powder. FUN stuff.... lol. Unflavored is very good because it usually doesn't contain all the artificial sweeteners, ect. You're a female, so soy would be ok for you.. as a male, I try to steer clear because of its estrogenic properties... we like Testosterone :) the muscle builder of choice.

For taste with water: Add a few ounces of 100% juice (whatever u like, and to match whatever flavour if you choose a flavored power). Some use gatorade powder (bought in a can) as well...mainly for during/post workout replenishment.

For taste with water/milk in blender the way to go if you truely can choke it down: Add whole fruit... oatmeal, whatever you like that fits your fitness goals! Gaining muscle, loosing weight... add calories, or be careful adding them.

EDIT: Choice of powders low in fat and sugar... I suggest since your shopping options are limited simply to read the labels.

I don't understand why anyone would invest in soy protein. At one time it may have been something to do with price, but hell, whey is so cheap now why not use it.
