Some skinny kid at my gym told me: "Bro, you over-train"

Oh, so you've heard of me??
Are you from the area?

Which gym do you go to in Myrtle Beach? I know a few people in that area. Never heard of "The Hammer" though...

i don't want to come inbetween here but....

Off course proportion is it. But it still is better to have 18 inch arms then 15 inch arms, at least you already have that. Maybe in time you will go for proportion.

We may not forget (and i speak in general here) that no mather how hard we train like Dorian Yates, we will never look like him.
I mean training like Yates is not right for everybody.
In the old days everyone wanted to train like Arnold. You know, doing 20 sets or more for every muscle group. A lot of guys followed Arnold and where overtraining as well.

He will know when he overtrains. His arms will go down in size, maybe just 1/2 inch, but he will know.

Also not everybody is in the thing to train every muscle group in the same intensive way. The most important thing is to train and do what you want to do or you will give it up.

I am not saying that training arms 3 times a week is the right way, you read the answers. I also think every 4-5 days or for some every 5-6 days is great.

Bro, Pros do not train more then anyone else. Most pros train 1 hour a day 4-5 times a week and just eat and sleep the rest of the time. I think you are thinking of Arnold's time when they spent all day in the gym. Obviously, if you look at Arnold and look at todays pros, training all day is not of any benefit.

damn studly.. this post completely blew up in your face.. think about it man.. imagine training legs 3 times a week... do you think that is overtraining!!!!!

Your body needs rest to grow...!

Hey, you know your body best. But you probably want to get a lot bigger and meaner if skinny pricks have the nerve to approach you in the gym to "correct" your training.

overtraining is BS, IMHO.
if it works for you, do it.
i also call bullshit on the 18 inch arms at 170 lbs, however a freind of mine trains his arms 2-3 times a week and he is a monster. arms recover fairly quickly as they arent an overly large muscle group.
just because it doesnt work for you, doesnt mean it wont work for someone else.
just a thought.

You might not be overtraining right now, but you will be in time. I started training 18 years ago and I did the same thing with the training bodyparts 2 times a week. I was alright for a while, 1 year until my body stayed at the same weight for over 1 year. ( what a waste of time)I begun to realize I wasn't doing it right and stopped training 7 days a week down to 5 times. Then I started to grow. I moved to another city and learned that these guys were only training 4 days a week, and I started monday ,tues thrusday, friday workouts and WOW I gained 20 lbs in the next year naturally no drugs at all.I begun to realize that the rest is VERY important to the success of your body to grow muscle. I knew I was traning hard enough but for me it was the building phase that I was doing wrong. I started at 145 lbs 6' tall and 18 years later i'm 230 lbs in the off season abd shread to 205lbs in the summer. As for me this worked for me and I wish I didn't waste the time I did in the gym with no progress, I learned from my own mistakes.
