Sodium Question

OK when tracking sodium (as I am diligently doing right NOW) and using Fitday - when selecting a food like "Chicken breast, boneless, skinless" or "Steak, cooked, lean only eaten" ----> when looking at the Nutrition facts for the amount selected (say 3 oz) is the sodium listed (332.84mg in 3 oz of cooked boneless skinless chicken) the sodium ALREADY, NATURALLY in the food or is fitday just assuming I'm adding the salt??

If you look at the Ingredients to the food (have to go to the nutrition facts page) It will tell you if there is salt added or not

Are you eating frozen Chicken or did you buy from fresh?

Yeah I know - but it's for raw then cooked chicken breast that I don't add salt to. So is the sodium naturally in the chicken breast or is fitday assuming I'm adding salt to it????

I think it's natural (unless it states salt, table)

Guess, that's why people boil their chicken at comp time

Jens there is alot of "natural" sodium in chicken, this is the reason I was boiling, and eating that chicken like that :sick: It tastes like ass (although I don't know what ass tastes like) but it gets rid of some sodium!
 
same here -- was actually "steaming" it over a cup of hot water in the microwave to extract all the sodium out. Pain in the ass.

It's raw chicken breast I buy in a big pack then I've been baking it.

I've just been baking it in the oven then eating it cold.

Oh and fitday does the same thing with sweet potatoes...there's "salt, table" listed for the sweet potato & it's "salt, table" listed for the chicken too. I am NOT using table salt!! :mad:
 
I am going to bump this cause I have a Q about sodium to just checked out my natty pb there is zero sodium in it does that mean I can't keep using it as a fat soure right up tell compatition day?
