So I'm training two of Ladies today...

They share their sessions so they can work with me 3 times/week. It was our leg day and I often give them what I call "challenges." I love to do them in my group training sessions and Its basically a contest between them. Today the contest was who could do the most leg sled presses w/ 270lbs on the sled w/ njo pausing rests. The loser had to do my favorite...50 Dead lifts with a jump sqaut between pulls(you aren't walking after this one)

So here I am ready for them to maybe give me 50 reps.

So woman #1 starts and to my disbelief gives me 126 full, non cheating reps. So I thought this was over, #2 was gonna quit after 50 and face the punishment. Well she stepped up and gave me 149 full reps(note she didn't stop at 127). Needless to say I felt a little bad for making the loser do the punishment, however rules are rules.

I must say although I can leg press over 2,000 pounds I could never get 149 reps at 270lbs. This was one of those days where I am proud of my girls and I say..."I love my job."

First, I'd like to say that is incredible! Good work to them!

BUT ... is there any point in doing that many reps? (I understand it was not planned that way, just wondering?)

(wicked grin)

I would love to train with you.;)
I need a little motivation in my prissy little gym.
I am sick in tired of being in a gym where eveyone stops and watches the guy in the corner squatt till he drops.
I got a big leg day planned for myself tommorrow. Last week I pressed a full sled with 2- 250 lb guys(fattys) on top. This week I want to get three, and thats about as much as the press will fit.

I miss the days I had a training partner. Now everyone in my gym are cocks or whimps. When it come to the iron my ego stays at the door and I let myself get punished. Actually I think most would think I have no ego(I ride a pink moped around my campus).

I actually love training with my fiance, except the difference in weight is so great, we have to alt. exercises...which in effect is no w/out partner at all.

Unfortunately you would kick my ass in endurance sets. I am heavier than I have ever been and extreme, stopping pumps over 15-20 reps. But I am always up for blood, sweat and tears:bawling:

It is hard to say if there is a point...I often wonder this about many exercises and to tell you the truth I don't know. All I know is they were sore, and thats what I want. If they don't feel a thing the next 2 days I have failed. I personally have been sore every single workout over the past 2 years. I used to be fine after every workout, thats when I noticed my plateau. Now it seems I have made a constant progress over the last 20 months.
Now, I don't mean they couldn't walk, just sore to the touch.

In this scenario I would most likely say it would have been better to do a high rep set by drop sets. I am not a big fan of over 20 reps because half the time you whimp out and stop at 20, when really you could have done 45. If you use drop sets at the end of your series you know you pushed it to the limit.

But Spatts, you have amazing ham string development...I give you super props. But whatever you do, if my fiance ever becomes computer literate and starts up here, never tell her she will look like you, she will never trust my lifting advice again(Even though I think it looks great). But I know she won't because I have it set up so she shouldn't have the calories to do so.
