So confused about Omega's!

Are they the same as polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats?

I thought omega 3, 6, poly, and mono were four different fats!

If I eat a lot of healthy fats through foods, and if they are the same thing as omega's, I don't need to take omega supplements, right?

Also, if they ARE different, than which should i buy: just omega 3, or omega 3-plus omega 6?

In terms of omegas you have omega 3, 6 , and 9 fatty acids. They are all unsaturated and are known as EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids) Essential meaning you have to eat them to get them in your system as your body does not manufacture them

They are either monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty acids. But the exact fatty acid could be many things.

Omega 3 are generally polyunsaturated and are generally
fish and some vegetables such as walnuts and flax
Omega 6 can be poly or monounsaturated and are almost always some whole grain or seed oil such as sunflower of safflower oil
Omega 9 fatty acids can be poly or monounsaturated and sources are peanuts , olive oil , or rapeseed (generally toxic)

Thanks for the reply :-)

So, basically, unsaturated fats poly and mono..... and omega's..... are sort of the same thing, but not really?

So if one took 5 fish oil caps a day - ate 1.5-3cups of oats per day, plus a serving of BOTH walnuts and peanuts they would have covered enough of the fats?

it would work for any purpose. You just adjust the calories for cutting or bulking

The main difference is one diet would include olive oil , flax , and safflower oil and steak. So this diet would be like 5000 calories

The cutter would still use the coconut but would cut out alot of the the drinking of oils for tuna for omega 3's for instance. Then you would use ground flax seed instead of flax oil since the seeds won't digest as well... Carbs would be limited to grapefruit juice and yogurt...
Maybe some green veggies , but that won't addd much
So this would be 2000 - 2500 calories...

Actually all of the high fat diets should include spinach with the coconut as the 2 together are a good natural diuretic. The juices of spinach clean your intestines while the coconut kills harmful parasites while leaving helpful flora alone. In combination with aloe vera which will reduce yeasts in your stomach and you should have a winner....
