slim fast

okay..been workin out and tryin to gain lean muscle and lose some fat, but it seems like i just cant get enough calories in me (well, at least im assuming) so i drink 1-2 slim fast shakes a day just to supplement calories. is this a bad idea or is there something similar i can be drinking on the go.

ps. im a bartender so i need something quick i can drink for calories.

Nevertheless, Slim Fast is NEVER a good idea: Overpriced and overstuffed with sugar (you have to read labels).

Are you currently cutting? bulking? to me, it seems like you haven't really made up your mind and would love to achieve both at the same time: Not possible.

Set a clear and specific goal, one that is measurable and just follow it.

Depending on what your goal is (loose x pounds of fat, or gain x pounds of muscle), your shakes will vary: For bulking, a shake rich oin Carbs will be an ideal (look for Dextrose products), while for cutting, something more protein-based (whey) will do.

These are all very general suggestions, however, since we need to know how does your diet and training look like before we could say "This is exactly what you need"...

The only thing I could say in advance is: Throw the Slim Fasts as far away as you can...

well, i guess what im tryin to do is lose fat and gain strength/muscle at the same time. i know hard, but i think they will go hand in hand. right now, im on a high protein kick and pretty much the only carbs im takin in is after my workout, creatine mixes and with those dreaded slimfasts.

also, im doing 5 days a week in the gym. mwf - weights tr - cardio/abs

what other info do ya need?
 
Yep, Slim Fast is loaded with sugar. In fact I think its just cake mix with a different label.
 
Your best bet is to pick a specific goal for now; cutting or bulking and run with it. Trying to bulk and cut at the same time is like Tug of war for most people IMO.

p.s. I bartend too, so for those nights i throw some whey in a shaker and maybe a chicken breast wrapped in romaine for later on and stash it in 1 of our coolers until I get a chance to take it down.
