Shoulder Injury

- Stonecoldgold

I went to my second session of ART today but I cant tell yet how it feels. I was wondering if you worked out while getting treatment or took a few weeks off. I really did not want to take time off but if thats what it takes I will. My doctor seems like a real nice guy who knows a lot about shoulder injuries and told me that it shouldnt be a problem if I keep working out. Since you have been through this before, I was wondering about your opinion.

mvmaxx--- thanks for the karma! keep the board updated on any success your wife or training partner have. there are a lot of good bros out there getting surgery for no reason. help stop the insanity! hehehe.

mehta--- I would definitely keep working out. According to Dr. Leahy, it actually helps the process. You should push your shoulder so you know what exactly is still bothering you and you can measure your improvement. Then when you go in for the next treatment, you can tell your doc "i can do this movement ok, but it hurts when i do this, etc". Like I said, I was still experiences pain in my shoulder after a couple treatments. It was by continuing to work through some pain that I finally became pain free.

Hey Mehta. I have had that same exact problem with my rotator cuffs in the past. You feel a snapping in your shoulder, and it is really aggrivated from sleeping in certain positions, right? I had problems with them for years. Then I read a book called "The Seven Minute Rotator Cuff Solution". This was an EXCELLENT book. It described every exercise that I did incorrectly to a "T". Some exercises it suggested to eliminate completely, and for good reason as I tested there theories. I also use ibuprofen (anti-inflamitory), which in conjunction with the info that I use from the book, has completely cured my shoulder aggrivation and prevented me from serious injury no matter how hard I train. That 6 months of rest is bullsh*t. My doctor told me that I had to rest for 2 months, and he was full of it. If your problem with your shoulders is as consistent my shoulder problems were, you will be resting for 90% of the year by listening to your doctor. You will only need to rest as long as it takes for the pain to go away (probably 1 to 2 weeks with the use of ibuprofen). I highly recommend that you find "The Seven Minute Rotator Cuff Solution", and use ibuprofen.........it will fix your problem!

Good Luck, Bro

StoneColdGold...

O.K., you're the man!!!

I went to see the chiropractor I mentioned, who's located in NYC. He sucked! He charged an obscene amount of money and didn't do shit for my shoulder injury. In fact, I don't think he is very well versed in ART. Anyway, I mentioned it at school and a friend of mine started raving about how much ART helped him and he recommended a chiropractor in LI that he visits anytime he has an injury...

ENTER Dr. Durlan Castro...

This is the man to see. It was just like you said. $35 per visit and he says I should be healed in about 3 sessions. I saw him last night and my shoulder feels 80-100% better already. I can't believe it. Plus, this guy is a bodybuilder like us, and he is very knowledgeable regarding shoulder injuries. He explained how and why I have been experiencing pain and he told me I could start training again today. I have another appointment on
Friday. He told me he "wants" me to start benching heavy again by the weekend so I can give him some feedback about how it feels. If you are in the NY area, Dr. Castro is located in Massapequa, LI. PM me if you need the number or just call the 1800number SCG posted and ask for Dr. Castro's number.

To all the guys who are considering trying ART...
Not every therapist will be as good as you would expect, however most are excellent. If you can, get a recommendation from someone who has experience with the particular therapist you are considering, and/or ask when the last time the therapist was certified or attended a training seminar.

Thanks again StoneColdGold, I will keep you all updated on my progress! Good luck to all...

i had a total shoulder reconstruction. its well worth it too. i couldn't lift shit without pain before, but now that i had surgery its 110%. it sets you back a while but in the long haul its the best thing for you.

BTW, on www.activerelease.com they have a search page where you can search for the closest Dr that has been certified and at what level. It will tell you how many and how far away they are from you. My workout partner found a Level 2 certified therapist in our same city.

He's gone twice now and says it hurts like a bitch when they're rotating his shoulder around while pressing into the shoulder. He is Mr. Skeptical himself so I'll post his results after he's completed therapy.

This is great to see others having success with this treatment! Everybody make sure to keep the board updated so less bros have to suffer needlessly!!!
