Shoulder Injury

ART...update!

OK, I've had two sessions and I feel that I'm totally healed. I can barely believe it myself. Pullups, no pain whatsoever. Heavy bench, nada. I'm amazed. I can't stop telling everyone that I know. I have my last session this Friday so I have some more time to work out and give Dr. Castro some feedback. Later bros.

Dr Castro

I am a patient of Dr Castro's as well
I go to his massapeqa office. He's a real nice guy and seems to know what he's doing. I have had 4 treatments and my shoulder feels about 75 percent better. This is amazing

Mehta and OVRTrainer.... ain't this treatment the shit?! Maybe now some others will start listening and give ART a try before going under the knife...

Shit... Dr. Leahy should be paying me royalties for all the free advertising I've done for his treatment! Better yet... free treatments for life. :)

still hurtin'

Well guys, since there's not an ART practitioner anywhere close to here, I made the decision to go see a chiropractor. Here's the deal so far :

I've been told I have a tendon impingment in both shoulders. He's cracked my neck every time (4 appt's so far), cracked my back once, had a cortisone shot in the shoulder that's the weakest, had the ultrasound treatment done, had the electrode thing hooked up to both shoulders each time & have been given 5-6 exercises to do each night to help strengthen the smaller muscles in the shoulders, which I'm told should eventually help take the pain away. He told me it will probably take anywhere from 4-6 months for it to heal. Also was told if the pain still exists 2 weeks from now they will do an MRI to see if there's any small tears. Shit! I'm having a hard time sleeping at night because I just can't seem to get comfortable. It's only been a week & a half though. Guess I'm in it for the long haul.

Deca??

I was actually thinking about possibly hitting 2cc's of deca per week in each of my delts to help with the inflamation. Do you guys think that would cause more harm than good? The cortisone shot just ain't gettin' it like I thought it would. I'm just getting real tired of having sore shoulders. I'm going back to the doc for another visit today. I might just throw that suggestion out there during casual conversation to feel him out & see what he says. He's a young guy, very cool, & always seems to like talking about working out. Just wonder how he feels about AS. Any thoughts?

daveyboy-- the deca will alleviate the symptoms (i.e. pain) but it will not solve the problem. If your problem is indeed tendon impingement, you really need to just make the trip to see an ART specialist. There is no better treatment for that type of problem. Make an appt. for a friday and just take the day off. Its by far the best thing you can do for yourself. Making a drive is much better than getting cortisol shots and going through several months of exercises that probably wont even help that much.

daveyboy...

I second what StoneCold said!!! I'd rather drive cross country than take a 6 month layoff and deal with the dreaded catabolic cortizone shots, but the choice is yours.

BTW, I'm fixed! I already talked 2 other guys into going. I can't thank you enough StoneColdGold. Of course now I'm not afraid to go nuts in the gym. I just figure as long as I don't tear anything the doc will fix it!lol The last time I was in I got them working on my hamstrings too! I love this shit!:D :D :D

LOL... glad i could be of assistance OVRTrainer... it sounds like you've gotten into the same mind set as me. I train my ass off now without worrying like before. Every few weeks I go in for a treatment and have some tweeking done. I've had my shoulders, chest, elbows, forearms, back, glutes, hammys, and shins all worked on at one point or another. I always leave the treatment feeling ready to run a marathon... and I weigh 300lbs! :)

ouch

My shoulder started feeling so much better. It seemed as though I was on my way to a full recovery. I already had 4 A.R.T. appointments and I was looking to only have 1 more. Now all of a sudden the pain in my shoulder has come back. I do not understand why but it again is irritated as it was before I went to these sessions. I dont know what the deal is but it fucking sucks for me
