the worst "side" about AAS use by women is the "addiction" - not just the strength & the look, but the feeling of well-being, the recovery, the ability to endure so much more. Then when it is out of your system, suddenly you aren't "superhuman" any more....

Seriously so true I always need to be very carefull when I come clean I get so angry with myself for not being as strong as I was. Or not being able to train as much hence why I changed to a 3 day split give my body the time it needs to heal recover etc.

That's still back to the point of learning to manage the cycles & phases of fitness becaues you simply can't expect to be superhuman and superlean all the time. You can either choose to move slowly & determinedly to a point that you are essentially teaching your body to maintain, or you go for an extreme but assume a rebound. The feeling of euphoria when you finally get to where you want to go is great, but unless your goal is maintenance, you can't maintain. Its yet another one of those not obvious things where it is still mind over matter. It sux.

.. so take LOTS of pix when you look good! And then look at those while you are on the "bulking" or "off season" phase :)

ok. today is leg day. i don't know what ya'll feel you have to squat to grow nice legs. i've never had do really heavy leg work to grow legs. ever. the weight you see below is close to the heaviest I've ever decided to squat. seriously. don't hate me. lolol

squats with free olympic bar only x 20 (ass to ankles) to warmup. I forgot my belt today, so MAYBE could have squated more, but felt it in my lower back - so didn't try. i used the smith machine because i had no spotter. ( this weight includes the bar weight. little label on smith reads that bar weighs 45 lbs - like a reg olympic bar.)

1 x 12/135 - ass to ankles
1 x 10/185 - ass below parallel
1 x 8/185 - ass below parallel

leg extensions. 2 second pause at top.

1 x 12/135
1 x 10/150
1 x 10/165 - legs shaking so bad at rep 8-10 that I looked like I was having a seizure. :nerd:

stiff leg deads. 2 second pause at contraction.
took the olympic bar only, bent over, and let it dangle at my feet to stretch my lower back for a while, then:

1 x 12/95
1 x 10/145
1 x 6/195. tried for 7 and just couldn't get it up there. lolol wobbly legs.

sitting leg curl. 2 second pause at top.

1 x 12/105
1 x 10/135
1 x 10/150 - shakes again. got off the machine and had to squat down or fall down. :nerd:

wobbled on over to the stationary bike and pedalled for 15 minutes. slowly. followed up by stretching my legs for 15 minutes.

Honey, I don't even use WEIGHTS on my legs. All my leg muscles have come from bodyweight exercises, cardio and plyos. No hating you here, in fact, I am sorry you even lift that much for legs, lol. ;)

Last years prep I was told to stop working my legs completely and they still came in massive after lots of cardio too. This year I did bring them down some but I stopped squating pretty much completely aside from light pile squats. For my legs rep range is always high and not heavy at all. I try to work them tell they strart to twitch or feel like I might pass out. LOL Leg workout for me is like cardio I keep it very high intense. I look at a squat rack and olympic bar and I swear they grow. So I don't hate you I feel your pain :D I wish I could get my biceps and shoulders to grow as fast as my legs!

Ahhh Jealous all you people don't need to hard work the legs!!

You look great Short 1, Can't wait 2 C u get on stage!

Yep....I have Shorty hitting legs for now as I want to find (relative) weak areas or strength imbalances.....things we will be addressing shortly.

I also expect to see a lot of the joint pain fade away as this amount of volume is really low for her(heavy due to the TUT, but still intense). I am sure Shorty will agree.
We are hitting the muscles in a specific sequence:

Squats - midrange
Leg Extensions - contracted

Stiff deads - stretch
Leg curls - contracted.

The POF is what I referred to above is finding weak areas both structurally(within each muscle) and antagonistically(hams/quads)....we talk about this more as the show gets closer.

As QT stated for her, the leg work will drop considerably 6-8 weeks out and cardio will keep size and drive in the cuts......so its really about putting on mass now(as she will quickly in the legs) and then maintaining through the show...its a balancing act.

Im sure folks are wondering about AB work:

Where is it??

It's not there....yet.

5000 k points to the first person who can post up why there is no ab work yet

The Shadow said:

Her abs are being hit enough indirectly with lifting (sqauts etc.) judging by her pics abs don't really need to be worked much either b/c it is just matter of her getting a bit leaner and those suckers will pop big time. :qt:

ok. here are some pics taken today, by me. Jeff'snot around, so i had to take matters into my own hands.

yeah. i realized that when i saw there were only 2 weight classes. are those really big wimmin going to make me look small? :worried:

actually - what I'm most concerned about is that there might not be any competition. as in "no other entrys". i've been looking at results from the past couple of years. contestants are dwindling. i think i'd rather come in last in a pack of 10 than to be the only one there. oi.

here's the woman who won last year, and she was in the heavy class all by herself. she didn't win overall. contest weight -124.

lightweight Tamar Fidelman won overall. contest weight = 113.

sorry - that was 2005. 2006 she came in lightweight and overall.

Darlin trust me.

you will so full of muscle at your height that it wont matter

who cares if no one enters...it wont matter if 100 enter

so. who qualifies for nationals? overall winner?

Usually the overall winner yes.

at 140 pounds you will be the a bit shorter than the lightweight class winner and 25 pound heavier.

you will also be 5-8 inches shortter than the other heavyweights and just as thick

you will win

I guarantee it

ahh. I've actually been working toward this goal for almost 2 years. (with another 4 years behind that of regular workouts). I didn't get this way overnight.

LOL I wasn't saying that you didn't work hard to get where you were, I know you did.

Just a reminder of my problems I had last year, so I have to start all over with stripping the fat, this is my 3rd year competing.

You look great and your hard work shows!

i know what you meant. :D what I meant was that it's taken me a long time to get to a point where you've already been, so don't feel bad about how you look now. or something like that. lolol what I meant and what I typed didn't quite mesh, there. I'm bad like that in real life, too.

hopefully, you get the general idea.

Not to scare you or anything.....

but with some tan, oil and a week to deplete and fill back up - you could beat the heavyweight now

it doesn't scare me - it just makes me realize that I have a distorted view of what I look like.

I've been working a long time at this, but it seems like this year things finally clicked. it doesn't seem like a struggle anymore. i feel ready mentally & physically to do a show. didn't feel that way last january, although it was what I wanted.

ok, shadow.

a request for my next diet schedule. can we work out a diet for travelling? I'll be gone December 19-28th. Staying in hotel with a fridge. (thought I had a kitchenette, but when I called to confirm, the told me their kitchenettes were booked. ) oatmeal, protein powder, milk are not a problem. i think I can cook enough sweet potatoes for the entire trip. chicken and eggs could be a problem, unless I can find pre-cooked breast strips or boiled eggs.

also - may I have a cheat meal on Christmas Eve? We're going out with my uncle to an upscale restaurant. probably seafood, as we'll beon an island. :D

here's the gym I'll be going to:

Of course.....I told you to relax a bit while you are there.....I'll have that diet ready for you a bit later as I want to see pics closer to travel time.

I cannot believe you are still so far out .... you are simply phenominal. This combo - of you and Shadow - is going to KILL the others. I hope there are a TON of people in your class and you wipe the floor with all of them. No doubt in my mind.

that makes me feel really good. thank you. :)

Shorty...some questions:

1 - Name a fantasy or tv character you love or relate to
2 - Pick a song from two different genres that gets you going
3 - favorite 2 movies

The Shadow said:

oh, shit.

3. Dangerous Liasons & The Shawshank Redemption. (Most of my favorites lean toward period movies- Braveheart, Shakespear in Love, that kind of thing.)

2. this one is tough. I love all kinds of music -except rap. here are 2 on my inno.

Blink 182 - all the small things
Pink - 18 Wheeler

1. i don't watch tv, except for Discovery/History/Animal Planet - so I have to relate to a movie character or book character.

the fist time I saw 'The truth about Cat's and Dogs", I completely related to Abby played by Janeane Garofalo. seriously. I still do.

The heavy weight is one case where I really hate this 20% softer shit - she's got fantastic legs but they would be so much nicer w/ just a little more leanness. The lightweight chick kinda looks stringy to me - like she's got the quad / hip tie-in but not much quad.

Oh well..

Shorty you look fuckin' fantastic! Love the quad / calf - I think a lot of women have a hard time getting that nice ratio of thick quad / taper to knee / bulge back out on a calf.

also - if Nick from FF gym in Prescott is reading this, HELLO! :) Thanks again for helping me out with the membership this month, and welcome to EF...

I also wanted to say tho, even tho that heavy wt looks kinda soft in the legs in the front pix, her hammies are fuckin phenomenal. I LOVE when women have that amazing leg profile!

PERFECT!!!

reduced volume = soreness

I hope some folks really understand that volume and intensity are inversly proportional.

Calves = their day is coming......they will be getting hammered soon enough.

I noted the answers to the questions.....using them to come up with music and a posing theme...

another thing to consider....

I have her doing "odd" variations of laterals......

note that the angles place those in a stretch position at the start of each rep....this activates the myotatic responses and ALSO strengthens the rotators as we go...in case anyone was curious

20% softer, or 20% smaller? I'm a little fuzzy on this.

20% "softer" - ie slightly less lean with a "bit" more water weight on them,

I hear the "20%" rule is about to be overturned again

"It's hard to be humble when you look this good." (LOL my father used to sing that all the time ;) it is some old country song.)

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
when you're perfect in every way.
I can't wait to look in the mirror
cause I get better loking each day.
To know me is to love me
I must be a hell of a man.
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

I used to have a girlfriend
but she just couldn't compete

who keep clamoring at my feet.
Well I prob'ly could find me another

Who cares, I never get lonesome

I guess you could say I'm a loner,
a cowboy outlaw tough and proud.
I could have lots of friends if I want to
but then I wouldn't stand out from the crowd.
Some folks say that I'm egotistical.
Hell, I don't even know what that means.

I guess it has something to do with the way that I
fill out my skin tight blue jeans.

I will assume you meant 8 OZ of chicken breast, not 8 chicken breasts? :Chef:

And, I can't remember if you discussed this, but I am curious. Why did you choose Deca as your supp of choice? I know you have some joint issues - is that the only reason for the Deca? How did you come to choose Deca? Like I said, just curious - not judging or anything. :)

Week 2 - Workout Changes:

Add 1 Set To Every Exercise And Increase Pauses By 1 Second Per Rep Per Set
Reverse The Order Of The Exercises - We Will Do Isolations Furst And Then The Larger Mid-range Movements......this Is Where The Workouts Begin To Get Tougher.

The Reversing Accomplishes A Couple Of Things:

Its A Shock To The System To Do Those Pauses When Fresh, Which Means Heavier Weights Can Be Used(although The Added Pause Time Will Dampenthat A Bit)

It Also Means That The Midrange Sets Will Be More Intense As Well As The Pauses(especially The Contracted Positions) Can Actually Recruit More Muscle Fibers Down The Line In The Midrange Sets When Other (secondary) Muscle Groups Come Into Play.

No Dietary Changes As The First Two Weeks Will Establish Baseline.....

SUPPLEMENT ADDITION OF r-ala with each shake and starchy carb based meal - 1 cap each meal(all but last meal of day)

Shorty,

I Want To You To Begin Tracking Rpe(rate Of Perceived Exertion)....at The End Of Each Workout - That Means Giving A Score From 1-10 Based On What You Perceive As Your Exertion Level....with a 10 being an all-out - could not do another set

then Give Another Score 1-2 Days After When You Are Your Most Sore, Again on A 1-10 Scale...with 10 mentioning my name and several suggestions on where I should go/or what I should do...lol

yes. i'm cutting and pasting from Shadow's PM, so am repeating the typo. ;) sorry bout that.

I chose deca mainly because of my joint issues. Blut wump gave me some good reading info on it, and i spent a month reading up on whatever I could regarding deca usage and women. - talked to women who have used it, etc. I was also looking for something a little milder than primo. i like the fast results with primo, but "fast" wasn't my goal. i was looking for something a little more gentle, side-wise.

deca has given me good, slow gains and has totally eased the pain in my joints. only side i've experienced is a little breaking out on shoulders, but that has gone away. it may not be a good choice for everyone, but it was good for me.

ok. so - starting monday I do:

Incline Fyles 4 sets of 10-12 reps(3 second pause on stretch)
Pec-dec or Cable Crossover - 4 sets of 10-12 reps (3 second hold on contraction
Flat Bench 5 sets of 12-6 reps

then score 1-10 (10 = failure) the workout.
1-2 days later score 1-10 based on soreness and how bad I'd like to kill you. :D got it.

r-ala = glucorell? 1 with every meal but last, right?

also -

I drove down to the fuel station job site last night. we're picking up our 5th wheel and the rest of our equipment to haul to Sierra Vista. I'm on my satellite link right now, but will be pulling it down in a few hours. I may not get to log back on until tomorrow. FYI.

Thanks on the input. Like I said, I was just curious why you chose Deca, not many females do, ya know? Certainly was not a judgment or questioning your choice - just wondering. :) Thanks for answering! :)

i had to drive 5 hours today and it gave me time to think about this. lol

I think the reason a lot of women don't take it is

1 - they don't know anything about it
2 - they're figure girls who are looking at something for quick, small gains or hardening up - like primo and var

deca is for slow gains over a longer period of time. the gains are solid, tho - and from what I've been told and what I've read, kept after you go off. my skin didn't get oily and my hair didn't shed. I haven't experienced any "swelling". my voice does get raspy the day of the shot, but goes back to normal after about 2 days.

I'm gonna take a stab at this -- deca was always the one AAS that guys had available and unless you were a hardcore "old school" FBB, women just didn't use AAS at all up until 8-10 yrs ago. You simply didn't see "big" women except the really BIG pro FBBs. About the time that you started to see the backlash of the freaky huge women and the rise of fitness and then figure, then I think more of the lighter drugs were more available and more well-known via the internet. At that point probably winny was considered the "entry point" for most women and deca was still considered too harsh unless you wanted to look like Kim Chizevsky (in her late 90s Ms O days). And that trend has just continued w/ an even greater trend from winny to var & primo instead of deca. And even now when people discuss deca, its more towards NPP for women instead of traditional deca. And if they are looking for something "more", then GH gets brought into the discussion.

As far as the slow-acting, slow gains, etc. --- exactly another reason why its NOT suggested for women - longer 1/2 life means if you do experience sides, you have to wait that much longer for the stuff to clear out of your body to stop the sides.

But for joints, deca consistently comes up as the one AAS mentioned.

Deca is the traditional mild steroid. As Sassy mentions, NPP is preferred in case of sides, since you can get off it much faster and it'll clear in a sensible amount of time. With Deca, if you see sides then there's nothing you can do but watch them worsen for a couple of weeks as the ever-so-long ester starts to work its way out of your body. Even long-time male users typically way underestimate the clearance times of Deca.

On the other hand, if someone has used Deca before and knows that they're not prone to sides, then it offers the advantage of infrequent dosage compared with NPP which should be shot E3D, if not E2D. As a woman, there's no PCT, as such, to worry about, just clearance times.

For joint pain deca is untouchable, although NPP is very good as well - so it comes down to personal reference and personal realization of sides.

As the show date approaches, some supps are going to get rotated out, others in and dosages will be varied - at that point the deca will be rotated out of the equation and npp will be rolled in as training will be MUCH lighter at that point, so the(possible) drop in "joint lube" from using NPP will be acceptable.

The most important issue at this point is that day to day activity was being impacted by joint issues...that is being addressed currently with both the Deca and the training.
