tomorrow morning @ 9am

pre-judging @ 1pm

night show @ 7pm

just got out of the shower and look a little better -I'll take pics again tonight. Shadow and Ilk will most likely not make it, so it's just Jeff and me. The bright side of this is that if I screw up, no one will know but me. ;)

What the? They are too busy eh? hahaha I am sorry to hear that though. I know you would love to have a cheering section there. We will all be cheering you on here though. You have your very own fans that will be eagerly awaiting your posting of the results and a pic of you holding the trophy!! ;)

Shadow has run into some problems at work. He'll be online today, so it's not like I won't have any contact with him.

...and thanks! Yell really loud from home. :D

Give me Jeff's cell number and I call when you on stage and start screaming GO SHORTY GO :D

Wow that's interesting to do the pre-judge at 1 pm. Man that makes for a long day w/ no break.

You should be completely fine - stick to your eating / drinking schedule. Ice chips (but how many & size) are a big help if your mouth is silly dried out. Ask Jeff to tell you if he notices you chewing the insides of your cheeks -- because based on my own experience - that is what I am doing in almost every 'action' shot from my first show. Not that its bad -you are silly dried out - but it does look funny on stage.

And then just watch your water intake after the pre-judge cuz you aren't off the hook yet. Don't want to bloat up on for the night show. Another issue I had was that I'd gotten a stomach ache between the shows I was trying to drink coffee or something that would sort of bomb my stomach and make it pass before the night show. Didn't work so well.

Anyway you will rock the show chica! All you! Just remember you're there to show these people what they paid money for!

thank you. :)

today, I'm taking it easy and will go over my pre-judging routine and also the qrtr turn stuff. Jeff just left to go run some errands and I'm sure to eat something really tasty. lol He doesn't want to eat in front of me.

hes gonna get back smelling of fried chicken or something. Your mouth will start watering which could be a good time since you can't have much water now. ;)

Just some last minute thoughts to make every pose count:

- abs & thighs -- blow out for everythign you're worth to show the detail of all the work on those abs

- all your rear shots -- because you are takign that wide stance, be sure to sit down / into your stance to show off your ham development. If you have it there, its something to show off because it is one of those evil estrogenic places where women have to kill to get the detail out (LMAO Unless you're hoteacher...) Even to get some shape besides just "the back of your leg" to pop will stand out to the judges.

You might spend a few minutes practicing in the mirror under good light or take pix to see how different degrees of sitting into the pose bring up more ham detail.

These are just really minute details that if you've got all the poses down & completely and mindlessly and consistently executing, spend a few minutes to see about a little bit of extra detail to see what looks best. It sometimes helps to have a recent moment spent looking at these in your mind when you get on stage and you can remember to add in that extra little detail with just a little more sittign into or whatever. (Or you may just go completely on automatic and just do it ... my mind barely registers that I'm on stage - I literally have to just let my body do what is habit.)

And if you're getting nervous some little tasks may help keep you occupied without getting bored doign your routine & the posing over & over. My suggestions above are nothing to get concerned about -- I'm just suggesting to experiment a little to see what shows up on stage best -- the poses are down tight already - this is just experimenting to see what you wear best on stage.

But do remember to enjoy it on stage. It really is a kick. The whole point is to have fun.

Oh yea, and at the final posedown when you've won your weight class and they do an overall trophy posedown, do like the guys do! Don't be polite and just stand in your little spot on stage and pose -- get up in front, regardless of who else you step in front of, take the stage cuz you own it and just show the people what they paid to see. Just seeing the women get up & do the posedown is awesome and it will get the crowd going no matter what. Give em that "YEA BABY! THAT'S MY GLUTES YOU WANT A PIECE OF! HELL YEA THEM'S MY GUNS! F* YEA BABY! CHECK OUT THIS QUADSWEEP! YOU WISH YOURS WAS THAT GOOD!"

(LOL I'm thinking the same attitude like that song "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me" ...) It's all attitude!

ok. I think I'll probably need 1 coat of Protan. Someone give me some application tips. Do I put it on tonight, let it dry then shower?

also - I woke up this morning with HUGE hair. lolol Humidity. The ocean isn't very far away.

I've seen women put it up for pre-judging and then wear it down for night show. Is this the norm, or should I jsut leave it up for both shows?

huge hair = you better have a good straightening iron and some smoothing cream! lol good luck again girl. I will pop on Sunday to see the results!

Let me say it one more time before you have that pizza and ice cream or whatever else it is that you've been craving for months...

I WANT YOUR LEGS ;)

Stand on a dropcloth of some type cuz it's drippy.....use those foam brushes like for paint (you can get them at Home Depot) and it's easier to pour out the Protan into an old plastic container, dip the brush in & paint you with it.....well Jeff I mean......tip: as it dries, you'll get cold cuz there's alcohol in it.....

Showering will rinse (some +) of it off and could make it look streaky......and wear old dark clothes so you don't ruin the hotel's sheets.....

no - she probably came in a light heavy. looks huge, but in that pic, she only weighs 5 lbs more than me. lol

FC is the product of a lot of years of balls to the wall training, competing at the top national level - I saw her come in like 3rd at the USAs in Las Vegas in 2003. Plus she was playing in powerlifting. SOLID!

Protan - yes put it on like jens said -- if this is your first layer of it, mostly make sure you get a good covering of it - i.e. make sure everything is coated. Honestly I'd suggest you sleep in it w/ long sleeves / legs to let it dry completely and then take a shower in the morning. You do have an great tan already but I'd just want to make sure the protan layer isn't splotchy or has runs. It requires time to set. Then if you need to touch it up you can do it in the morning.

Do you have the base MAC makeup for your face? I personally woudlnt' suggest putting protan on your face, but if you don't make sure you don't have a line where you stop coming up to your face.

Completely different subject - this was bugging me today - I think you have to do a 60 sec no music routine in the pre-judge right? My only thought there was just to make sure you do a 3 sec count on each pose so you can control your pace. Its so easy to speed it up if you don't have the music or anythign to take your cues from.

I am not prepared for makeup like I should be. Ilk was supposed to do my makeup, but S got tied up last minute and they can't come. Sooooo. I only have what I normally wear - I do have a foundation that matches my dark skin and I brought ALL my makeup - but it's regular stuff. It will have to do - I don't have any other choice.

Do you think I need to add protan? I don't really want to - but have been told it might my muscles show more...

we're working on it tonight. I've been practicing the 3 second hold on all my poses. I've cut it down to bare bones for the pre-judging. Just the mandatories. IF for some reason I get nervous and speed it up, I have a continued sequence of poses to add in until they call time.

I would suggest at least 1 coat of Protan, only because the lights are REALLY bright and they tend to wash you out.....I've been told by black competitors that even they use Protan or Dream Tan cuz they aren't dark enough.....

So I layer tonite then maybe a rinse off in the morning (no soap!) and a layer of posing oil or bronzer or whatever you have.....

Protan = yep - one coat will do it.

Stick to the instructions about first thing in the am.

That will ensure that you are dry for the am session...your conditioning will be on the money.

the pics you snet to Ilk are amazing....your abs are the best I have seen them.

The puffiness is a comnination of a couple of things:

Travel
Carbing up....

Remember when we did the sodium addition??

It takes an additional 20ish or so hours for that process to really get going, so you can expect changes by tomorrow am.

I've personally found that I know my sequence of poses inside out but I do get nervous so I just simply focus on counting to 3 on each pose - that's about all I can handle to keep my brain from completely blanking out.

The biggest thing is to give a good solid hold on presentation of each pose. If you go too fast, pretty much everyone notices and it can count on you. Its ok if you finish before the 60 sec -- just don't go too fast.

I'm sure you'll pick up on this once you see the first person go up - but usually they will call when you have like 10 sec left and just that noise can completley throw you because you aren't listening to anything in particular and it may seem like they were giving you an instruction that you didn't hear or it didn't register and that can just throw you off completely. Everything you have planned to do is correct -- you don't need to worry about or expect any instruction from anyone so just mentally allow yourself to just do what you plan to do and be aware that you may get that 10 sec call so just run the routine to completion.

Just mentioning it so you are aware of it.

She's a lil' cutie, ain't she ;) Childlike enthusiasm coupled with a complete lack of inhibition. The world needs more people like Shortie :qt:

I do have to say something, though, SHORTIE!!! Important!!! Don't forget a great big, gleaming beauty pageant smile :D

I promise to smile. I tend to do that when I'm nervous, so it shouldn't be a problem. ;)

^^^ Yes!! You Let The World See What We See...
A Complete Woman Who Is Proud And Oh Sooo Sooo Gutsy!!!you Be Proud And It Will Show!!!

I'd put on one coat. I was told when I did my comp last year to put first coat on after showering then leave it over night then add another and have a quick splash and dash in the shower the night of second coat. But I don't think you will need more than 1 coat IMO.
Good luck for tomorrow. I will be eagerly awaiting results and pics.

*Sally our heroic pilot is at the airplane's controls*

*RW opens the cockpit door*

I just wanted to wish you good luck. We're all counting on you!

mornin' ladies and big, beefcake guys ( :p ). Got up 1/2 hr ago and rinsed off some orange stuff in the shower. I'm just now getting my boobs glued into my suit so I can go weigh in.

Shadow says pictures after weigh in - so I'll post em when I get back. I wonder what I weigh...

Guys - remember on the pics she will post....

Weigh in is AM.....PREJUDGING is 1pm her time(4 pm on east coast).

She will look very tight, dry and a bit flat....we have a plan to get her recarbed and full by 1pm...and have a plan for touchups for the evening show.

LOOSE RULE OF THUMB for Novices:

Scenario 1 - You look TIGHT, dry but flat.....you most likely need carbs

Scenario 2 - Tight, and full not no veins - you are a bit UNDERHYDRATED

Scenario 3 - Tight but watery - you have spilled over on the ater consumption - hit a diruretic

...those are the most likely conditions.

This is MY OPINION TO FOLLOW:

Most shows( and by most, I mean 75-90% are won in the am).......

you are better off being dryer but flat than full and watery for the morning show.

SO that is the plan.....she might be a bit undercarbed for the prejudging - but that is part of our strategy.

Also - the "judging standards" are being kicked around again this year.

Sally had a very minimal prep week - its both safer for her, and I think it will hit what the judges are looking for.

Remember Cory Everson??

TIGHT, FULL but not ripped to the bone...I think that will be in fashion this year - so that is what Sally and I are presenting.

Hey!

weigh-in took FOREVER. 9 billion figure girls. lol I weighed in at 138! holy :cow:. I didn't weigh that much at home. lol I'm the heaviest - and there are only 2 girls in the heavy class. I can honestly say that I have nothing to worry about at the moment. :D That's all the bragging I'm going to do until it's in the bag.

PICS: after looking at these, Jeff and I decided we'll change my stance for the rear poses by putting my leg out to the side more than to the back (as shown in pics.) With the wider stance, the crease you see under my butt disappears completely - looks much better.

I have foundation on my face and some lipstick. that's it right now - I'm heading to the bathroom to get my makeup on right now.

If you were closer I would ask you to come over so I could wash my clothes on those abs. DAM WOMAN!!!!! You look great own that stage it is all yours girl no one loos near as good as you I am sure of that!!

also - no 60 second routines. They've decided to do it like the IFBB and call out the mandatories. works for me - one less thing to worry about.

no 60 sec also keeps things moving quicker! You look awesome all the way around. Thick, tight, solid. Go show em how its done!

Good news on the prejudging.

You look fantastic.

KEEP EVERYTHING AS PLANNED IN THE PMS.....NO CHANGES!!!!!

Text me after prejudging and take another front and back double bi shot to see conditioning after the early session.

GREAT JOB SALLY!!!!!

She's onstage/backstage as we speak!!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (can you hear me from DE?)

She looked awesome everyone. I have some pictures but I am going to try to enlarge them and then post them up for all to enjoy. I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet but I will be heading back for the night show in a few hours.

sorry about the blurry ones. lol :D you should excpet that from me by now.

ok. the 3rd pic is of the lw class. just thought I'd throw that in there so you could see al the femal bbers.

I'll be back to the Scottish Rite center at 6pm. Look for me behind the curtain where the pump rooms are. yell "SALLY!!!" and I'll come see you. :D

----

speaking of pump room. they have a women's and a men's pump 'room'. I get to the women's section and they have stretch bands and 8lb weights. LOL!! I said "Hey, look at the little baby weights!" and all the figure girls gave me 'THE LOOK'. LOLOLOL

So, I nosed right in with the open men's group and used their weights. The other women bbers followed me over ther, and when they saw that I wasn't getting bashed about, they joined me. :)

Ok I will look for you in the pump room. Did you happen to catch the older figure group? That woman (and if you saw it you know who I am talkin about) had huge cajones to get up there and do that.

Um, looks like you blew away the stage...!

the woman on the far right was also doing masters figure, which was on right after us. I stayed backstage and helped her change suits - they gave her 2 minutes. lol Luckily, she had a 1 piece that was easy to fasten.

Is the 4th pic the HW class?? What was the cutoff?

YOU LOOK AWESOME GIRLIE!! Totally comfortable up there!! Bravo lady! I also like how you changed your leg position.....
