besides being a nice place to see the chicks from the gym in less clothes and providing relaxation any other benifits?

I used an infra red sauna one time, burns 600 calories an hour. Couldn't stand to sit in it for more than 20 minutes though.

Excellent for a good, close shave. Some avocates say that it is an excellent detoxification for the body. I have a tendency to agree.

neuby34, we have a saunas at the gym i use, but they have a seperate one for men and women. I quit using it because this dude we refer to as 'naked guy' sits in there with no towel on , his legs spread and his wang hanging out. Then he wants to strike up conversations with whoever is in there. I don't want to have some dudes wang staring me in the face.

So, do women and men use the same sauna at your gym? Hell, i could even learn to tolerate 'naked guy' if there were hot, wet titties in there too!

Try sitting in the sauna for a while, then go take a super cold shower. It sounds painful, but it will work WONDERS for your muscle recover and relaxation!!

Is that true?

I would assume the only reason why you would sit in a sauna is to sweat out any toxins which would, in the end, assist in raising your metabolism.

I made a general routine of going into the steam room for 10 minutes, drying off, and then stretching before a workout. Then going in for 10 minutes after a workout to stretch out everything I worked on. I definitely stretched my legs out thoroughly every day. I used to do ab workouts in the steam room too. We tried everything in college and during the winter break when all students are gone......you have to be creative. There is noone around but your teammates and you have all the facilities to yourself. I hope that was enough input for you to be creative in the steam room.

Suana/hot tubs ect will cause dialation of blood vessels etc which helps promote blood flow and in turn helps aid the body in getting ride of lactic acid that has built up as well as get needed elements to the traumatized muscles for healing. Wish I had a suana at home I would use it all the time.
