rip n grip

Twitched

I've noticed I can hit MUCH bigger numbers if I go into a wide sumo stance and just lean my ass back and quickly grab and rip the bar up kind of like a "hip shrug". It feels powerful, but I am wondering if this quick ballistic movement could be dangerous for my back. I keep tight abdominal pressure and a tight arch.. but stilll.. I'm using a lot of "rip".

how do you guys feel on this?

I do the grip and rip. As long as my muscles are not sore from prior training (hammies/calves/glutes/erectors are not tight), and I keep my core tight, I'm ok. I don't think I'm jerky when I do it, though. I do it fast, but not haphazardly....if that makes sense.

I can lift a lotmore if i grip and rip....if i stand and contemplate while adjusting myself.....i will fail on the lift.

i must have a negative mindset

I never can seem to get my grip right when i try the grip and rip.. Its no problem at lighter weights cause even if it end up just in my fingers I can still pull it... But at around 500 I need a good tight grip that I know wont slip.... So what i have been doing on heavier sets is set up sumo...Then lean over stiff legg and get my grip set... then drop my ass and hips and pull it back....... I do need to start doing some speed pulls on DE day to work on my grip and rip though......
