"Respectable lifts"

What are respectable lifts to you - in categories

Dont worry about age differences, we all train like men.
So, how do we know if we have respectable lifts?

Bench = bodyweight (reps, say 10)
Squat and dead = bodyweight x 2

Those are respectable, but by all means not impressive, to me.
Whoever deads or squats 3 times or about that gets my bow.

What do you think is respectable and impressive?

Triple bodyweight in squat (at least hitting parallel) and deadlift (with the shoulders pulled back at the top). On bench press....2.5 x bodyweight with a pause at the bottom :) Double bodyweight on power cleans.

All this goes out of the window if they use shitty form such as bouncing the bar off your chest or the floor, not hitting depth etc. Can you tell that I'm not easily impressed?? :)

I agree with your numbers and technique for those lifts, but I've always been a fan of noticing whether or not someone can do pull-ups and functional excercises.

Pull-ups = Bodyweight +#100 for 3-4 reps, dead hang, full extension

I agree. that's the ultimate test.

*Is nowhere close to impressing Imnotdutch, but can do those pullups*

:D

That bench requirement is hard to fufill. The squat and the dead I can't do right now but soon, I just started to dead and squat again.

How about bench at 1.25x for 12 right now and squat I know pathetic 1.5 for 10 deads for 1.25x now too. I spent to much time running and studying for my own good.

Hmmm... a lot of people do more on the bench than the squat.

These bodyweight formulas give a significant to short guys. Guys that are 5'3" always have amazing squats.

yes short guys have an advantage........ but only at the begining of thier training........ imo......... as B Fold the Truth once told me. ............... long arms and legs mean longer levers with more torque and strength.

If someone is doing their best and actually cares to do the workouts right that is impressive to me. We all have to start somewhere...
