Re-Racking squat bar = back pain???

HANSEL

New member
Ok, I have to go down a few inches, get set under the bar...tighten up mu abs and upper body, and unrack the squat bar.

Then I squat, all is good.

Then I go all the way up finish my squat and when I have to re rack the bar, I have to come down a few inches.

This has been the point in which I have some lower back pain.

Am I doing something wrong?

Do you round our your back when you are re-racking the bar?

Do you suck in your stomach or do you push your stomach out during the lift?

I have an idea based on what you say to those two. :)

I dont think I am rounding my back but its possible.

I think I am actually sucking my stomach in during the lift?

I find that if I push out my stomach as opposed to sucking it in, I have a much stronger base to work with.

I would recommend videotaping yourself to see exactly what it is you are or aren't doing. Couldn't hurt. :) Like my coaches always said, "The tape doesn't lie lolololol

Correct, but that only works if you're wearing a belt.

You should definately be pushing your abs out. I push mine out and I don't wear a belt...it helps.
