I have seen a couple guys here who say they were in the special operations community. I am joining with the ranger contract. Can you give me some tips on how to prepare for RIR and what to expect when I get to batt..

Time to hit the cardio bro. Unfortunately they don't have a bench or squat rack to determine whether or not you get your tabs. Be prepared to lose a lot of weight. There's several guys familiar with Ranger school on here. Ask this on the chat board as well. I think there are usually a few there.

Thanks to my back, I'm a medical wash out loser...so earn your tabs for me too man. Good luck bro

im in the q course for 18D right now - run and ruck bro your ass off bro! focus on muscular endurance more so than strength. BUT - it would not hurt at all to include a 3 day a week lifting program in with endurance stuff. be prepared to loose some weight!

Thanks. What was the longest ruck and run you had to do while at SFAS. The most I ever did was 20 miles with 40 lbs plus water.

in selection it was min 55 lbs - no food or water. until we got to the "trek" where it was 75 lbs w/ no food or water. not really sure about the distances. they don't tell you anything except go as fast as fast as you can. we had 3 timed runs about 5mi, 7mi, and 9mi. 3 timed ruck marches 8mi, 12mi, ~15mi. those where not that bad - it was the 13 hrs of land nav a day for the next 3 weeks that sucked. last evolution was called "the trek". had 48 hrs to go about 65-70 mi. thing is your broke and busted down buy that point so it's a kick in the balls. and it will only get worse - phase 2 for us was even more torture. lost ~30 lbs at selection - sucked had to work my ass off to put it back on. you'll loose even more a ranger school though. work on endurance. are those you #'s in your sig? what is your weight?

Yeah those are my numbers from a couple months ago. Honestly, I dont care if I loose them, I just want to make it into batt. or an ODA. I havent fully decided which route to go. What do you think? Are you an 18Xer? thanks

no i am an e-6 already.i would recommend going to battalion first and then if your interested try for sf. the 18x program is good but it does'nt form the good, strict discipline base that you will get at regiment. you will get a lot of leadership experience from probobly the best in light infantry tactics. in the q course your already expected to have it - and if you don't the your instructor will zero in on it and will never let you make it through to the next phase.
