If your bulking up, then eat as many clean calories as possible. you wont get fat unless you take in like 12000 calories but i doubt anyone can take in 12000 clean calories a day. jay cutler eats fast food at the end of the day to get in those extra calories but the rest of his diet comes from clean foods like fish chicken red meat brown rice and oatmeal. what im trying to say is, many people want to bulk but arent eating enough. 500 cals over maintenance wouldnt get my weight up at all. i weighed 153 on sept 13. i weigh 170 one month later from eating as much clean foods as possible. meals consisted of 2 cups of oats with a dozen egg whites and 2 yolks with 2 slices of wheat bread. another meal would be 3-4 servings of whole wheat pasta with 12-16 oz of flank steak cooked rare. just get plenty of carbs and protein in each meal, eat 5-6 meals a day every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. and by the way, i still have nice abs, just eat clean and you wont get fat. Lee Priest gets fat during off season because he eats tons of bad calories when he bulks and just lift heavy, but when he gets to pre-season, all that fat comes off. it takes more work to cut off all that fat from bad calories. if you keep the calories clean, you can get cut in 6-8 weeks instead of 16-20 weeks
