Is it okay, for box squats, to take the eccentric a little slower, and just worry about doing the concentric fast, because in trying to get the set done in under 2 secondsi have to sit down on the box really hard, and I'm afraid it might screw up my back.
 
Well, you want a controlled descent, and an explosive ascent, all the while maintaining good form. Keep your form, and do them as explosively as you can. You'll get faster.
 
I dont think that you are supposed to do them both in two seconds. I think the protocol is for the two reps to take around 4seconds. But as long as your speed off the box is fast you should be alright. Don't think about time think about exposion, that is what you want watch not the clock.
