personal power mixer...

I am currently shopping for a power mixer to mix shakes at work.

I am considering this one..

Has anybody used this before? Is it any good? Is it worth the money? I have tried the one in GNC but the problem is that it doesn't reach the bottom very well.

I've been using a Braun handheld mixer. It mixes very well in a cup, or bowl, or whatever you may be mixing in (so versatile!) and cleans up in about 30 seconds.

Great investment for the money.

I'm gonna bump this just because i'm looking for the same thing and was considering buying that power mixer mentioned above... anyone have any expirience with that?

black and decker makes a bad ass cordless.... Ive bought some of the others for 'protein shakes' and they cant chop ice. Ive seen people make margaritas (sp?) on the beach with Black and Decker.

How is this easier/cleaner/better than a much cheaper shaker cup?

I have one. I like it a lot. I use it with ~10 oz. water and 1.5 scoops of Optimum Nutrition's 100% whey and it works like a dream. Very fast. Very easy.

I don't know how you like your shakes, but if you like them thick, it probably won't do too good of a job. Also, if you have one of the proteins that doesn't mix well at all, it may not work so great.

Also, don't expect it to crush ice or chop up fruit or anything like that. All it has is a small plastic paddle in the bottom that mixes the drink. No blades or anything like that.

I bought mine from one of those "As Seen on TV" kiosks/shops in the aisles at the mall. You might want to check there so you can open it up and check it out before buying it.

I have used that mixer and let me tell you it is a piece of crap. It mixes only the type of powders that are mixed easily with a fork or spoon anyway. If you have a thicker powder like myoplex forget it, it will just get all gunked up. The actual blender part that makes the water spin is made out of cheap plastic and mine broke off. Not sure how but one day i noticed it was snapped. Also, it runs on batteries and the cover for the batteries/wiring is poorly sealed. Before my spinner snapped off i was having electrical problems and the thing wouldn't always work. The thing is only $10 so you get what you pay for....
