I know at times lifters get tired of questions I get at least 5 a day how did you get so big?what do you take?how much do you bench?what should i do?and the worst can I come to train with you? just remember people look up to you thats why they ask.I wish when I started training at 19 years old and 151 lbs that I had someone who could give me good advice.Im 244 now and 34 but I know i wasted years of training and potential-- training too much(over training) and not correctly. Now since I know better I try to help like I wish someone would have for me. there are a lot of teens out there that wont listen and then there are teens like cubanito17 and freak 19 who has a hell of desire and are a pleasure to talk to and give advice to because they listen.hell I could probably ask them questions. A kid came up to me and this big black dude I used to train with and the kid asked me how we got so big --being the big eddie murphy he was my partner told the kid he grew up in africa and they used to take syringes and stick gorrials in the nuts, draw out their test and inject. the kid walked away saying wow. a couple minutes later my partner walked away and I asked him where he was going- he said to find that kid-he could just see him tonight at bush gardens trying to corner a gorrila with a syringe.. another example I saw a kid training one day and he did 15 sets of bench 15 sets of incline and 15 sets of flys for a total of 45 sets of chest twice a week.I said holy shit dude your going to hurt yourself---he told me he read that Arnold did this so he believes it will work....my point is this a lot of kids and adults for that matter read muscle mags and believe every thing they say we need to remember when we started, wishing the big dude would help us and help these kids before they hurt themselves and if they dont listen then its their fault and i wont feel guilty and to the little guys starting remember this opinions are like assholes and every body has one so what i did was go to the biggest dude(any usually the biggest asshole)and find out how to get big and if you ask me I will be happy to advise and so would powerlifter jay because deep down he is a big softie(just dont piss him off)

Thanks man , Hey can i come train with you guys?
Seriously , Some guy came up to me the other day and asked me why i did more than one bodypart a day because he had never heard of anybody doing it. I told it was caled a split routine and then went back to doing my 350 goodmorning.
The one thing i can say is a lot of people that are big don't know shit they just got lucky with genetics. Don't believe everything that you hear.

Back when i started there was no internet for me to turn too. The guys i knew that were big trained the same. But its little things that push you over to the side were gains come easy. I answer so many emails everyday. And i mean alot. And i dont mind it at all. In fact when soemone asks advice and has one question regarding something i said before , i am impressed with the fact the soak in all i say and repeat what i said in the past word for word. So next time someone asks ya'll something remeber their very serious, and deserve a serious answer. Not a smart ass , i am bigger then them answer. That i seen a lot of in person. These kids and beginner adults look up to you for your knowledge. And that i can just say thanks for asking me and it IS my pleasure.

I doubt that I qualify to be in the same category as you florida guys, but I do get asked a lot, not so much how did you get that big, cause I aint big, but how did you get so strong (not many strong guys in my gym) I always politely answer, and tell them as much as I think they can absorb, give them some websites to go read, and then watch as they go right back to doing sets of 12 and 5 reps on the cable crossover and wonder why they can't bench 400 plus.

I too wish I had started this at 18 or 19, but I did not start till 27 and those are just the breaks. I am constantly on the lookout for a prodigy, but it seems that everyone wants a quick fix, and the 19 year old who weighs 165 lbs (just like I did at 19) wants to be 230 and doesn't want to hear that it takes years and years of gutbusting work.

Great thread, by the way.

YEA this is a great thread, that's why when I see another teen on here interested in lifting I try and help. Sometimes you can tell who's just bullshittin or wants to lift for a year and then quit b/c they think they'll stay big year round. Hell yesterday I had a friend ask me how can I get my chest to pop out like yours. And I said well the first thing you gotta do is get your back to pop out he had a small back and he said well in these pics( we have pics of BB's doing cable crossovers, flys, declines, inclines, all over the weight room-go figure) this guys doing flys and he has a big chest. And I replied I havn't done flys in 7 months and my chest has gained 2 inches. So he went back to doing inclines then did declines then did incline flys and flat bench flys. So some people will just never listen but the ones that do gain alot from it.

Your prodigy is coming Brian....

Well..i am kinda happy now. We have chains and i did squats 420 at the top...400 at the bottom...and i have almost hit my 500 dead...shit...so close...

Bench still blows like a whistle.

Great fuckin post...

This post is as good as it gets. Many lifters do not give the time to help out younger kids who ask for advice. It is tough sometimes but at least try to help so these kids don't get injured. I have been lucky I learned all the compound excercises first and then the BB stuff. But older lifter need to know that kids will trust people blindily and not know the truth, so for everyone out there help some kids.... Well at least not get killed:D

I agree this is a GREAT POST!
I'm not one of the younger guys, but I find a wealth of info here.
Nobody has been a dickhead either. I read thru some of the other boards and people verbally shit on each other all the time.
Great read and keep up the great posting!

im a young one here.... and these boards have tought me alot. I used to read here and not post, but now im posting and i just keep on learning..theres always something new to learn every day

thanks bros for reading this post and giving it a thumbs up.why I like power lifting is you are going head to head against some one but when its their lift your still pulling for them and pumping them up---its not like other sports where there is no helping the other team. the same in the gym for me when I see someone doing an exercise and going to hurt themselves I go up and try to help --not cocky--just give advise. and just remember one day when we are too old to train and the questions stop we will give anything for someone to ask us about training then ----also that story about the gorrilla really happened.
