OK, - I am confused - How is it that Organic Milk (Cows not fed with any preservatives or chemicals) can have an expiration date of like 1 moth to 2 months away, but regular milk expires in like 7 days?

ANy help will be appreciated :)

There is nothing new with organic. :)

There are basically three levels of organic, as follows...

"100% Organic" means that 100 percent of the ingredients in that product are organic.

"Organic" certifies that the product contains at least 95 percent organic ingredients.

"Made with organic ingredients" means the product must contain at least 70 percent organic ingredients.

Great post.

organic means grown with natural fertilizers such as manure, bone meal, kelp, etc. all natural nutrients. Veggies fruit and basically everything we are fed these days has been modified to grow as large as possible for the best interest of the harvester. these products are fertilized and fed with chemical fertilizers etc. which in return do not allow these natural products to be as healthy as they should be, and we end up paying primarily for water in our products. Organic, while smaller, and more expensive are by far the best way to ensure longevity. organic plants fruits etc are anywhere from 20-60% more healthy than any regular shelf products you can purchase. plants which are not grown organically lack the nutrients in the soil to provide us (the consumer) with the adequate, and often times essential vitamins and minerals our bodies require to maintain a healthy lifestyle. In conclusion, buy organic products whenever possible.

On top of what tempest said, good post by the way, GMO(genetically modified organizms) pose a threat to not only the ecosystem but to humans. I.E. changing a gene in a food to make it resistant to insects and weeds could help the crop at first, but the insects would over time evolve and offspring would become immune to it thereby putting the crop in danger of pest control and possibly extinction. Also we have no long-term studies of what the modified genes in the foods do to humans. IME, organic fruits and veges, at least most of the ones I've had back to back, are much tastier. There are tons of issues with this and its not really the place to discuss it but still some things to think about when purchasing food.
