As far as getting respect that is something you have to figure out how to earn. Perhaps you might start by not being so adversarial and trying to speak to things you really don't understand or have experience in.

My wife and I have met a lot of people in real life from elite, we opened our house to a few last summer and they came, stayed and ate with us for a week.
