That's because free weights cause you to use a lot of stabilizers that you don't have to use on machines.

You'd only be a wuss if you went back to the machine for "ego" purposes instead of struggling with the 50lbs for a while. :D
 
Well done for making the change! You can look forward to some excellent progress...

BTW, the pulley and cam system on the machine probably takes a lot of the weight out, you wouldnt be pushing that much in reality...

Thanks for the support guys, the trainer was guiding me and I was thinking to myself that it may of been a bad move.
But I'll stick with it :D
 
It's better for you in the long run, you get more "real world" strength.

Also lots of machines are deceptive because while you may be moving 110 pounds on the machine, the way the lever system is set up can give you an advantage. It was probably closer to your freeweight level of 50 pounds of ACTUAL weight you experienced.
 
Stick with it youll be fine and youll get stronger quick as your stabilizer muscles begin to strengthen. Youll definitely see better results. congrats on putting your ego aside and working with free weights
