This low carb diet has literally taken the country by storm. Almost 3/4 of the people I know are on this diet ... I don't get it. You can lose weight just by dropping calories, and you can still eat the good-stuff ..... anyone else find this weird.

Im under 100carbs a day,its low enough for me anyway

I dont function at all on atkins /ckd diets ,so now I just eat, chicken, turkey, tuna, rice and veggies, with some potatoes, but 2-3 carb meals a day

Technically I'm NOT on low carb although I try to keep my carbs below 200g per day with those being good carbs & fibrous....

hey man, with keeping carbs under 100g how much fat u take in daily and where does it come from?

i eat around 200g carbs per day but I'm trying to bulk right nows so it's a little higher than normal.

normal day is probably 150 carbs.....with high protein and moderate fats

Depends on your definition of "low carbs" ......

I've NEVER been on a low carb diet.....sure, I may watch my intake, but moderation is the key..........I can go from 12-14% to 6-7% and still take in 150g of carbs......plus, the feeling you get when you do have too few carbs, sucks!

I'm not....I don't restrict carbs while bulking...I want as much strength as possible when I'm in the gym right now. But, come April, I will be low carb again. Man, that's gonna suck...but it's a necessary evil.

Let's define low carb. I would NEVER advocate a diet where you eat 30 grams of carbs a day, 7 days a week. Personally I take in about 20-40 grams per day, 3 days straight, followed by a day of carb loading in which I eat around 600-800 grams. That is an average of around 200 grams a day, I just believe it more beneficial to eat them at one time, if one wished to create an optimal anabolic environment. However, many classify my diet as low carb.

The real importance of this whole low-carb wave (once the radical stuff dies down, as it always does) will hopefully be that it has taught people *to think about* how they use carbs and to learn how to use them wisely for their particular needs and body/metabolic type.

You can stay in ketosis with a carb up every 3 days ?

I cannot function without carbs. I usually take about 250-300g of a carbs a day. I've tried to do 200 or less carbs a day, I am shit. I can't think, nothing, I am mostly thinking about food that contains carbs. Whole Wheat and Apple juice are my favorite so I will not let go! Never!

Apple Juice???? Yikes..............anyways, I need the carbs too, but I can still go pretty low.....Hey body...what does your meal plan look like on on and off (carbs) days? Curious, cause I think I could prob. handle that.........

THe low carb thing is driving me crazy, I cant believe low carb menus at fast food places. Half the people on it dont realize they lose so much water at first, and if they are working out count in any muscle they might have.
I hover around 150-200+ a day.

The general publics pecerption of "low carb" is whats wrong.

I think most people who are on low carb here have a closely monitored diet and understand why they are restricting carbs and how to make up for it with their other macros.

The regular schmoe who has been hearing about low carb on TV thinks it's all about eating cheese and bacon and hamburger meat and cheese.

They'll loose a few pounds but will kick their cholesterol through the roof and complaint of feeling un-energetic.

I like BBF's idea of having a carb-up every 4th day or so, while averaging out to 200 or so grams of carbs daily. Whether or not I could survive on this is another story. I'll have to see if I can put together a diet similar to this. I'm all about experimenting. BBF, if you would please...post your diet?

low carb is bullshit.. if you train, you need carbs, bottom line.. clean carbs ofcourse..low carb shit is a diet for sedintary people that dont do crap all day.. they get fat cuz they dont burn their carbs, hence low carb dieting..

Testing... the new EF isn't letting me stay logged in or post today.

Good. Ok at present I eat roughly the following on keto days

1 lbs ground turkey (not lean)
1/2 jar of natty peanutt butter
10 tbs of extra virgin olive oil
6 tbs of flax seed oil
1 ibs romaine lettace
a head of broccolli

My suppliments are:
3 grams bcaa's post workout
3 mutli-vit/mineral pills
1200 iu's vitamin e.

Carb ups vary alot but if I want to do it clean I just make a pot with the following mixed in (dry measurements)
1 ibs of ground sirloin or turkey
5 cups of brown rice
1 cup pinto beans
1 cup of flax seeds
2 diced tomattos
1 diced red bell pepper
seasonings
4 tbs olive oil

Or I might make alot of whole wheat spegetti, or I may just pig out on pizza if I'm in the mood to cheat.
