my personal trainer's new routine: why?

My pt has me doing legs and shoulders one day, then day off, then bis, tris, back and chest, day off, etc. The schedule goes, MWFSu one week, then TTrSa the next. It seems really awkward, but why these together? I'm off for legs/shoulders right now...hmmmm

Please don't tell me "just ask him", because I'm sure he has something that has to do with his physiology thesis to back it up. I want to know what everyone who's NOT my pt thinks of this. Comments?

I've never personally heard of that split , seems a bit wierrd to me, better two way splits in my opinion are upper body/lower body, chest delts tris/legs back biceps or push/pull. Just my opinion. also does he have you working arms before torso? if so fire him immediatley!

He actually never specified. But I made my own assumptions about what to go ahead and do first. I'm laughing because the PTs at my university are masters students, and I'm not paying him too much. I even have seen him at parties before. Just picturing telling the poor guy "you're fired" and storming out of the rec center in front of the professors playing ping pong.

he is giving you a modified upper/lower split routine. the reason he gave you shoulders on leg day is that the volume of shoulders isnt enough to wear you out for legs and the extreme volume of legs wont diminish the little you have to do for shoulders. he kept shoulders apart from chest for the obvious reason, your chest workouts will take away from a shoulder workout and vice versa.
a day off to recover your shoulders a bit....

then on to the main upper. back chest, with arms to finish it off since they are preexhausted.

Thanks Bignate!! I have to admit, now that I've done it, I had a lot more time to concentrate on my legs then I have before, and that was great. My squats have been improving TREMENDOUSLY, and I even got in an extra set.

The thing that gets me about most PT's is that in general, most of them look like they've never lifted a weight before. Don't get me wrong, theoretical knowledge is damn important, but so is putting your theories to practice by actually lifting weights, which is where alot of my faith in PT's is destroyed.
