My new attitude and some questions

I smoked for 22 freakin years of my life. Gave it up 12 years ago. I know I can never even pick one up, even to just mess around (I made that mistake once before I actually quit for good). It's like being an alcoholic in a way. I wish you the best of luck in all of your fitness endeavors.
I just want to say this is AWESOME!!! Kudos to you!

Little update:

Went shopping for clean foods. I ended up with some, but not all clean foods. All organic - romane lettus, tomoatoe, chicken, lean beef. Also got Yogurt (good for my IBS), raw chashews, almonds, apples, grapes, and some small red potatoes.

I know all of these aren't "clean" foods, but I figured it's a major improvement and a start on the right foot.

I also did some Cardio on Sat and Sunday and early this AM.

My endurance is pretty good (thanks to CB)...however my muscles in my legs start to really hurt and won't go anymore after only 5 -10 mins of stair stepping?? I make sure to stretch really well...so I guess only time will help build up the muscles so that they aren't so sore during the workout?

Thanks again for the support, advice and motivation!

YOU GO GIRL!! :garza:

Look at it this way.....muscle soreness is just weakness leaving your body. :dance2: IMO One step at a time is ok as long as you keep steppin!

It's also a really good reason to pamper yourself with a hot bath. ;)

I wouldn't be too concerned with the grapes and yogurt - if the yogurt is good for you then eat it, you can always get plain yogurt, put vanilla baking powder on it or splenda and put it over over berries. As for grapes they aren't horrible - unless we're talking a pound of grapes (which I have to admit I can suck down in one sitting).

I think you're doing great - BRAVO!!!!!

Put a bag of grapes in front of me and I'm almost sure I could eat them all no matter how big the bag, I can't stop :worried:

I second what velvett said, you're doing great :) well done - be proud of yourself!

One thing about making significant changes in what you normally do w/ your body (e.g. exercise, especially adding in daily) is conditioning. I can be lifting at my heaviest or best or whatever, but then if I throw in cardio, I may be dying after 10 minutes. Within a few weeks I can up be up to an hour w/ no problem.

Don't worry too much about you think you "can't" do now, but rather slowly working towards conditioning your body for the cardio goal you have. But also don't do literally the same thing every day - that will condition your body to do exactly that - but not give you the variety of exercises and what is really PHYSICAL STIMULUS doing other things. That's where mixing up steady state & HIIT cardio is great. Throw in a few classes every now & then. Or whatever is your training schedule, change it up - reverse the order of exercises or whatever. Finding that balance of regularity = conditionng, but a few shock changes just to keep your body readjusting itself and not falling into such a conditioned state that it starts to stall out in progress.

Off to a killer start! Remember, fitness is a constantly changing journey, not a destination.
