My goals

New member
I dunno why im posting this... im just bored.

I've set some new long term goals for myself... here they are..

1) Compete in a national competition
2) Acquire some more state records
3) Become NJ state champion for my weight and age.
4) Stay on track w/ ray benemerito when he was 16. So that means i have to total 1315@ 148 w/o gear... fuck that, im just gonna Aim to beat that total before i turn 17. and i'll be using equipment

I think the first 3 goals are definately attainable.. i dunno about the last one.

Hey, shoot for the stars, if you miss. . . well, you know the rest. but it is true.

If you miss beating Ray Benemerito, then who cares? If you even get close, then you will be far and away above what most could ever hope to acheive.

Those sound like some great goals. I think writing them out is very important.

I have goals too. I would like to post a 550+ by the end of the year. I also have the goal of a triple bodyweight bench someday.

Maybe I won't get there, only 4 people or so in history have done it at my weight, but if I end up with a 650 at 220 when the goal was a 660, then that still puts you in the top ten all time, and way ahead of anything a sane person would think was possible.

And. . . maybe I will get there after all. Who knows? That is the great thing about the future. Anything is possible.

I also have a secret desire to total Elite someday, but I have to figure out how to deadlift more than I weigh or that is going to be tough to acheive.

Couldnt you just bench press 1400 lbs? That would solve most of your problems of totaling elite.

Keep at it and keep focused, those goals are attainable. I agree with Benchmonster(the internet hero lol, I liked that) its good to write these things down. We all have goals, and they are all different. My goal is to bench over 400 by December. We will see how all our goals pan out in the end I guess.

Ha ha. Actually, I think Elite at 220 is around 1850 or so. So a 600 Squat, which I have and a 450 deadlift, which I have added together equals a 800 bench for elite, so that is all I need. None of that 1400 stuff for me, thank you very much.

Or I suppose, if I were a real man, then I could raise the 600 squat up to around 750 or so, and raise the dismal deadlift up to 550 or 600 then we are only talking about needing a 500 bench.

It all depends upon how you look at it. I just need to sack up and figure out ways and means of getting that squat and deadlift where they need to be.

Benchmonster, if you cant hit a 1400 bench by December then you are a pussy!!!

That is my goal as well. Maybe we can encourage each other. What's your max now, and how are you training? Are you shooting for a raw or shirted 400?

I was stuck at 295 for about 6 months, and I just jumped up to a raw 320 by going through Dave Tate's Big Bad Bench program (http://www.testosterone.net/articles/158bench2.html). I'm going to do some higher rep volume stuff for a while, and then go back to a more regular westside program. 80 pounds in 5 months = 16 pounds a month. I don't know if I can do it, but I'm sure gonna try! :)

Deciever with the right training and dedication anything is possible. Just don't give up or get discouraged or let anyone else bring you down and you'll suceed.

Skizac, I am training Westside right now. I am not sure what my shirted max is right now. See the thing is, I was around 380-400 bench back in April but I had a back injury from squatting that put me completely out of the gym for 4 weeks and totally away from benching for 12 more weeks. So the thing is with me, if muscle memory kicks in and I train hard I should be back to where I was pretty quickly, then the task will be to get those last few pounds to get me over 400. I actually maxed out raw three weeks ago and could only get 300, but last week on my ME bench day I hit 300 on closegrip bench so I know Im over 300 raw now. But yea, it helps to have people with the same goals, Good luck bro, and keep me posted on how your progress is. I have my two week journal so far on my Westside routine and I will continue posting for the next four week on this minicycle for westside. So you can see how my progress is going. I post every Thursday night after I get done with my ME bench day if your interested in reading it.

Good goals Deciever...Think it would be a dream of me to clean and jerk over 500lbs and snatch close to 400lbs...thats if i stay with Olympic lifting...cand tell if i wanna stay with Olifting or go back to pling. If i go back to pl id like to hit 500bp/700dl/800sq and id want to do it in the USAPL drug free. Seems like only a dream with my 1370 total now lol....who knows.
