Morons at the gym (the official thread)...

No offense taken at all. How many sets do you do for biceps? That really isn't a lot for you guys is it? I sometimes do more than that. I do a bodybuilding workout, a lot of sets, slightly lighter weight, more reps and very little rest, with the exception of power movements like benching or legpress I rest a little longer on those. I am always sucking wind hard between sets.

Legpress...... really? Since when is that a compound/power movement. Last time I checked a "power" movement meant a dynamic movement like a clean or a snatch.

This thread is awesome.

...man you guys are tough. More exertion due to the heavier weight invloved. Squatting, benching, legpress yeah I'd call them power movements. No one likes a smart alec.

What works for me may not work for you. Here's me, I'm not huge but in good shape and 45 years old. Again, didn't mean to hijack this thread.

seriously who takes someones post work out shaker? they dont even know what i got in it.. that has to be the meanest and dumbest thing ive ever had done to me/seen at the gym
 
Damn the other day my friend acted like a moron. He's a novice at lifting and I asked him 4 a spot on squats. I told I was maxing out and all he had to do was make sure I didn't fall backwards. I do a couple reps and I'm walking forward to rack the bar. I have no clue y but he decides to help me. He straight up grabs the right end of the bar and pushes it up and forward. My whole body was slanted had me looking like Jesus carrying the cross. Douchebag didn't even say anything he's like oh.
 
Can I just shout out to the naked guy who stands infront of the TV in the changing room at my gym...

MOVE OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY

i'm a newbie here, but i've been reading for a while. I'm certainly no expert, but I work swing shift (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off) so i have a schedule where I can go to the gym when I plesae most of the time, and I tend to go at odd hours. I also found out that monday mornings are "social hour" at the gym...and I felt the need to vent

1st some lady had 3 sets of dumb bells, a bar bell, a matt, some kind of rolled up matt, a flat bench, and the row machine all taken up....if that's not bad enough...wait...the bench was positioned perfectly to take up 2 squat racks as well...I understand that most people don't use the squat racks, and that positioning yourself in front of the big boy weights might seem like a good idea....but MAYBE someone else would like to be able to utilize the gym, I promise you that I didn't just show up to stare at the geriatric community that is there for social hour on a monday morning

2ndly...everyone in the free weight area was there for social hour. lets do 1 set of exercises at which point we'll lean on 1 machine while the person were talking to sits on another machine...and we can talk about betty sue and the fact i'm goig to be a grandfather soon...and while we tie up the 2 machine were leaning on...lets leave our water over on another machine half way across the gym so no 1 can use that either

3rdly...if someone is in the middle of a set, do you truly need to come stand directly next to them to do your dumb bell curls? there's a whole friggen gym...I am positive that you can carry your weights 10 feet away from me so I can lift in peace or atleast not have to worry about what exactly it is you're doing

but big props to the guy that decided it would be a good idea to see how much 495lbs REALLY feels like when you're dead lifting it...I gave him the "sir, please be careful" but after he called his wife over to watch me, he had to "give it a try" he just gave it a quick pull, it didn't come off the ground, but I wasn't about to stick around to watch the situation escalate, I put the weights away as quickly as possible, ending my work out short, because, once again, not everyone at the gym on a monday morning is there for SOCIAL HOUR

*end rant*

Yeah these assholes do in this in a small college locker room to. there 40 and yet somehow have access to it. one fat guy dropped trow before he even opened his locker.


What about when ur on a flat or incline free bench and rack some dumbells to go heavier and u come back and two sticks are getting rdy for flys or something

give them a quick poke in the ribs mid-set with an olympic bar... thats what they are there for...
