Mission: Clear Skin (Acnetame)

acnetame seemed to have an effect for the first while then my face broke out again and remained that way... i then stopped and went clean then took b5 along with other vitamins again... didn't work.

i've started a cycle of birth control. hopefully it will help....

there is something seriously wrong with my skin, i can't believe nothing has helped :(

If you're dealing with hormonal acne, the bc may help, depending on which one. Yasmin shuts androgens down, reducing oil. Of course there are reports of blood clots and strokes now, I am going to the doctor this Friday to discuss an alternative to Yasmin, I'll let you know what I hear.

I went off Yasmin a year ago and noticed a difference in how I felt and in my skin. I definitely felt overall better and had clearer skin. I'm one month in on a different kind now. I wanted a lower estrogen one so have started out with loestren (sp?). My skin has acted up for sure and I've had a bit more moodiness but I'm hoping it will even out in a month or two.

Trex, I'd be interested in hearing what you decide (even though it's a bit of thread hijack) as I'm always looking for alternatives. I'm pitching the vasectomy angle but so far, I'm the only one who likes the idea. ;)

i was taking acnetame 2x/day for 2 months exactly, finished up both of the bottles that were sent. it just didn't work in the end. so acnetame is ruled out of my books. after that i didn't take anything or use anything on my skin at all for a couple weeks and then i started taking vitamins. the vitamins i purchased: b5, b-complex, biotin, coenzyme q10 and omega 3-6-9. i took those everyday for a month and a bit with no results at all... i'm scared to try new products now, my skin just reacts so badly to everything...

everycurve, those sound like really great suggestions, and i'm really surprised by the vinegar! sea salt from the dead sea is something that i haven't tried yet... but have been wanting to try, i've sampled it and it smells great and leaves my hands feeling super soft. the stuff that i sampled was really expensive though. do you have a favorite brand? i'm sure there is probably something more affordable out there, i'll take a look.

the birth control that i got was yasmin. my doctor mentioned the blood clots and stroke risks too but he still recommended it and said that it is definitely the best one for fighting acne. soooooooooo i'm crossing my fingers. it's been 8 days since i started now.

It'll probably work. Try not to stress about it, and yeah, overwhelming your skin with a million different things probably doesn't help it. If you use benzoyl peroxide already, don't add in something with salycilic acid, it weakens the skin. Use one or the other.

Acne is an issue that millions of people suffer from on a daily basis. Topical treatments are some of the most popular current treatments that are being used to today.Unfortunately, topical treatments do not work from the inside out and There are a few popular oral acne pills that are available by presciption as well. On top of that many of them come with very serious side effects.

Did you even read her post?

that is very good to know, i seriously appreciate these tips!!!

about the birth control and the acne being hormonal. my doctor tells me it should only take a couple of weeks to see the results. a friend of mine says it took her about 3 months to balance out but eventually her skin cleared up (she had it all over her body)... so i'm trying not to get my hopes up right away... yet very very focused on this having to work! haha

you poor thing... acne is the worst, especially when it has been caused by a self-inflicted method =( I feel for ya gurl...its not fun and on one hand its so true that the only way to fight it is from within...

*however* there are many ways to apease and soften the redness and calm your skin. The sea salt...I will have to get back to you on that one. My girlfriend orders it on this site for $10/bottle I believe and its amazing! I've tried it and she puts a couple granules on a facial pad, and dissolves them in hot water a lil and then dabs dabs dabs! And the vinegar really really worked for my other girlfriend. She had such terrible skin and it made her feel just awful. So she got herself an exfoliating glove and soaked her face in vinegar every day and scrubbed away at the acne.

I dno... there are so many schools of thought on these kinds of things, Peprika... in my experience: scrubs, scrubings, exfoliants, brushes and gloves have all helped me and the close friends that I care about so much. I definitely think its worth a try. You never know... it might work!!!

Also, another thing: DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED! Keep your attitude up, and keep trying all different methods and believe that this is only a skindeep problem that doesn't affect the beautiful life that you live everyday! Are you getting enough sleep?? Are there any major stressors in your life that are preventing you from getting better??? The birth control should be helping... Im on Yasmin as well but have been off all month due to my Anavar cycle... I didn't wanna mess around with anything hormonal LOL...

I wish you luck and will be back with MORE info on that sea salt for you :)
