Mission: Clear Skin (Acnetame)

Peprika

New member
Hello ladies. I recently posted a thread about my struggles with Acne.

It is my goal to be completely acne-free! And nothing is going to stop me!

The thing is.. I use to have clear skin... I used a topical product called Benzamycin that worked by drying out the skin. Within the last year I started going to the gym and running (completely new to me) and I also developed an allergy to Peroxide... which is one of the main ingredients in most over the counter topical acne products. Since the allergies happened I went on a crazy desperate rampage, trying sooo many products & speaking with doctors. I have very stubborn acne.

I hate having acne, it sucks to wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and truly dislike what you see. It's been more than just months now that I've felt embarrassed to leave the house... sometimes I don't even want to go to the gym anymore because of it!

So, since posting that thread I mentioned before, I've had a package of Acnetame sent to me in the mail from needtogetaas. I got it around the 3rd this month and started immediately.

I took before pics and so far so good.... My skin is actually starting to feel Smoother and it seems to be healing. Wish me luck!!!! I really need it.

I'll post up the pictures once I get to the end of the trial so keep noted if you are interested.

:) That's really good news girl. I'm happy for you.

I've never had to deal with acne myself, but after the AAS cycle I just completed, I got a few (like 10 max) stupid little zits...not even legit zits, just little red dots lol on the tops of my shoulders and a few on my upper back. A few time I used some normal acne stuff I use to wash my face with (it makes it reeeeally soft and clean, I've always used it) and I use a scrubber brush thing and wash my shoulders and upper back (the best I can) with it, it works decent. I'm currently waiting on my acne kit from NTBM, I'll be sure to let you know how it works for me!

Do you know what the active ingredient is? Just curious.

Ya, acnetame works! Works better the longer you take it.

The first couple of weeks I was noticing my skin healing and less pimples... it continued to get better as I went through the first bottle. But it seems almost as if... as soon as I started the second bottle the results changed. My skin seems to be breaking out again... but it's different than usual... there are lots of small pimples that just pop the same day and go away a couple days later... I'm not really liking this, it feels like the product stopped working?? But maybe I'm wrong, maybe this is part of the process???? Is there something that I should know about. Does anyone have any advice? Should I stop taking the pills? And try something else?

Hmm... lets see... what has changed... I just moved this month to a different area and I haven't been going to the gym because I haven't decided what new gym to join and they are all pretty far away compared to usual... (but this shouldn't have a bad impact, rather better because there is less sweating)... That's about it guys.

acnetame seemed to have an effect for the first while then my face broke out again and remained that way... i then stopped and went clean then took b5 along with other vitamins again... didn't work.

i've started a cycle of birth control. hopefully it will help....

there is something seriously wrong with my skin, i can't believe nothing has helped :(

Peprika... Dealing with acne is extremely hard as a woman... And I understand your struggle.

A few suggestions you may want to try:

1) sea salt from the dead sea: use as scrub for face and body and leave on. For the face, I would put a bit on a wet cotton pad and let it melt a lol bit as it is extremely coarse. Thereafter, dab dab dab away and let the skin soak it up and dry up.

2) salicylic acid: neutrogena has this amazing grapefruit acne body wash that leaves your skin squeaky clean and fights breakouts thru the day. You can also find cleansers with the same active ingredient.

3) vinegar: I know this sounds way off but...a really good family friend of mine advised me once of having combated her problematic acne using white vinegar and an exfoliating glove. She rubbed her face with the glove or gentle face clearing brush soaked in white vinegar 2 x a day... Little by little her acne went away. She had really really really bad acne and has it NO more.

*** I do have to mention, as you obviously know... The skin has a 21 day cycle... And it sheds and regenerates. Therefore, any regime that you take on, you have to really give it a good 2-4 weeks to reaaaaaaaaaally see true results.

I wish you luck, and do forward your findings!

If you're dealing with hormonal acne, the bc may help, depending on which one. Yasmin shuts androgens down, reducing oil. Of course there are reports of blood clots and strokes now, I am going to the doctor this Friday to discuss an alternative to Yasmin, I'll let you know what I hear.

I went off Yasmin a year ago and noticed a difference in how I felt and in my skin. I definitely felt overall better and had clearer skin. I'm one month in on a different kind now. I wanted a lower estrogen one so have started out with loestren (sp?). My skin has acted up for sure and I've had a bit more moodiness but I'm hoping it will even out in a month or two.

Trex, I'd be interested in hearing what you decide (even though it's a bit of thread hijack) as I'm always looking for alternatives. I'm pitching the vasectomy angle but so far, I'm the only one who likes the idea. ;)

i was taking acnetame 2x/day for 2 months exactly, finished up both of the bottles that were sent. it just didn't work in the end. so acnetame is ruled out of my books. after that i didn't take anything or use anything on my skin at all for a couple weeks and then i started taking vitamins. the vitamins i purchased: b5, b-complex, biotin, coenzyme q10 and omega 3-6-9. i took those everyday for a month and a bit with no results at all... i'm scared to try new products now, my skin just reacts so badly to everything...

everycurve, those sound like really great suggestions, and i'm really surprised by the vinegar! sea salt from the dead sea is something that i haven't tried yet... but have been wanting to try, i've sampled it and it smells great and leaves my hands feeling super soft. the stuff that i sampled was really expensive though. do you have a favorite brand? i'm sure there is probably something more affordable out there, i'll take a look.

the birth control that i got was yasmin. my doctor mentioned the blood clots and stroke risks too but he still recommended it and said that it is definitely the best one for fighting acne. soooooooooo i'm crossing my fingers. it's been 8 days since i started now.

It'll probably work. Try not to stress about it, and yeah, overwhelming your skin with a million different things probably doesn't help it. If you use benzoyl peroxide already, don't add in something with salycilic acid, it weakens the skin. Use one or the other.

Acne is an issue that millions of people suffer from on a daily basis. Topical treatments are some of the most popular current treatments that are being used to today.Unfortunately, topical treatments do not work from the inside out and There are a few popular oral acne pills that are available by presciption as well. On top of that many of them come with very serious side effects.
Acne-tame is a safe side effect free product that may help prevent acne. Acnetame combines Powerful oral ingredients to fight Acne from the inside out.

Did you even read her post?

that is very good to know, i seriously appreciate these tips!!!

about the birth control and the acne being hormonal. my doctor tells me it should only take a couple of weeks to see the results. a friend of mine says it took her about 3 months to balance out but eventually her skin cleared up (she had it all over her body)... so i'm trying not to get my hopes up right away... yet very very focused on this having to work! haha

you poor thing... acne is the worst, especially when it has been caused by a self-inflicted method =( I feel for ya gurl...its not fun and on one hand its so true that the only way to fight it is from within...

*however* there are many ways to apease and soften the redness and calm your skin. The sea salt...I will have to get back to you on that one. My girlfriend orders it on this site for $10/bottle I believe and its amazing! I've tried it and she puts a couple granules on a facial pad, and dissolves them in hot water a lil and then dabs dabs dabs! And the vinegar really really worked for my other girlfriend. She had such terrible skin and it made her feel just awful. So she got herself an exfoliating glove and soaked her face in vinegar every day and scrubbed away at the acne.

I dno... there are so many schools of thought on these kinds of things, Peprika... in my experience: scrubs, scrubings, exfoliants, brushes and gloves have all helped me and the close friends that I care about so much. I definitely think its worth a try. You never know... it might work!!!

Also, another thing: DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED! Keep your attitude up, and keep trying all different methods and believe that this is only a skindeep problem that doesn't affect the beautiful life that you live everyday! Are you getting enough sleep?? Are there any major stressors in your life that are preventing you from getting better??? The birth control should be helping... Im on Yasmin as well but have been off all month due to my Anavar cycle... I didn't wanna mess around with anything hormonal LOL...

I wish you luck and will be back with MORE info on that sea salt for you :)

OK, so my doctor said there was no reason to switch if it was working for me, so that's what I am going to do.

nice! :) the sea salt scrub sounds very appealing to me. i have spent soooooo much money on skin products, it's not even funny.. so i am trying to be very careful now with what i purchase.

the Yasmin i'm sure hasn't fully kicked in yet but i feel really positive about it. i have had a couple of breakouts since starting but for now (the last couple of days) my skin has been feeling pretty good... not soar to touch, healing, and i'm hoping (hope hope hope!!!) that it won't break out again tomorrow hahaa. so how do you feel being off of yasmin? do you think that it made a big difference with your skin going off of it for a month?

i've been getting pretty good amounts of sleep lately. also, been using a new pillow case every night (this actually REALLY helps)... i guess the biggest stress in my life would be money (lack of) and my skin... it's amazing how things can really spiral out of control when you feel ashamed of your appearance..

so just checking that we all agree that Yasmin is the best type of birth control for acne?

being off birth control is SO awesome for me... today is my 7th week on anavar and I can see some slight acnee bumps on my chin... hormonal. I am not looking forward to going back on BC because it makes me crazy...or maybe that was just my ex... he's gone now :) LOL!

its all the little things...they add up so quickly!!! i forget what type of AAS you were on that caused this outrage? and i can only imagine how much $ you must have spent already! when my ex broke out like crazy, i spent sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much on soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many products... the only thing he said that helped was washing his face 3 times a day, and using an exfoliant at least once a day out of those 3 washes. when he got off his cycle, he didn't do any type of PCT at all and his acne got much much better but didn't go away completely.

what really works for me babe is: TANNING :) have you tried this last resort???

Maybe you should try a differnt brand of bc. When i was on Alesse. I was a total psychotic bitch- not joking it really gave me horrible mood swings.

I haven't read this thread but a couple things...

I used to use some type of moor mud mask once a week...downside, the bottle was like $75. Crazy, right? But for probably a year and a half I've been using Dark Angels from Lush ($20ish, lasts me around a month). It's an exfoliant, which IMO, is a must because whats clogging your pores and causing likely isn't dirt. It's probably dead skin cells mixing with oil, then getting stuck in there. Exfoliating daily will help get rid of dead skin before that can happen.

The only thing is many face washes labeled as exfoliants are really too harsh to be used daily.

Dark Angels works awesome for me. After I use it, my face feels instantly a little smoother, and I read you had some allergies, but Lush uses all natural ingredients. :) They also have a mask called Cupcake (smells delicious) and some mask called like Triple Oxygen something, neither of which I've used, but I've heard great things about that are meant to be used once-twice a week as a more intensive thing. They have a few different face washes for oily/combination skin and the awesome thing is they'll often give you a small little 1-2 day sample to see how you like it before you buy (they sell it by weight).

I used to use the grapefruit wash mentioned on the first page, but even with my oily skin, after I used it, my skin was too dry. This is going to seem counterintuitive, but if you have over-productive oil glands, sometimes the worst thing you can do is let your skin become too dry. Reason being, if your skin is too dry after washing, like I said before, small pieces of skin are going to flake, mix with oil and clog your pores. If you're going to go the "I'm going to use a face wash that dries out my skin" route, you really need to also be using a small amount of a water-based moisturizer immediately after.

After you find a wash you're happy with, do you already use an astringent/toner? Funny enough, sometimes face washes do you no favors when you think you've washed it off, but it's still lingering deeper. If you use any face wash thats opaque, has a thick consistency or has any type of texture (beads, sugars, salts, anything scrubby/exfoliating), you really should throw some astringent on a cotton ball after washing and swipe around your entire face and neck (avoid eyes).
