Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can make or have my husband eat before he goes to bed so he won't get up in the middle of the night and EAT EVERYTHING from the kids pop tarts to oatmeal cream pies!!! (Believe me, the kids have TRIED to hide them........ :) We are working out together and eating clean BUT he has been getting up in the middle of the night for the last 4 years and eating something sweet. It wasn't a problem until now......now that he's been working out, watching what he eats. It totally blows his diet. Any suggestions would help! Thanks!

LOL @ the title.

Does he eat enough during the day?

What is his diet like?

What does he eat before he goes to bed & what time? (What time does he eat it & what time does he go to bed)

No and I think that's the problem. I eat at least 6x a day and I TRY to make him eat that as well. It doesn't always happen because his job is so demanding. I know that he will have a light lunch(tuna) w/a salad and a protein shake.

Our work out is in the evening from about 5-7. Post work out, he will have a protien shake.

He will usually have 2) chicken breast w/a veggie this would be around 7ish then he doesn't go to bed until 10:00 - 10:30. Then he will "creep" his way into the kitchen around 3ish!! He says that he thinks there something wrong with him because he can't stop himself!!! Or that the kids aren't doing a very good job of hiding their snacks!! HA HA HA

I'm assuming he has some size to him (since he works out & all)

He needs to eat more during the day, pack a lunch box. Does he eat any carbs / healthy fats? Sounds like he's starving himself & binging because of it.

Don't buy sweets until he gets used to not having that sweet treat.

Your kids will hate you - but eh, they could probably live life without pop tarts.

He does have some size to him and he's looking GREAT! But, the bf isn't coming off as fast as he would like. Healthy fats......... probably not. Carbs, he does have some during the day BUT he mainly gets his carbs from his RAIDS in the pantry!! :) I will mention what you said and make him things to eat through out the day. He will eat right if I prepare things for him and I don't mind doing that.

So, let's say he does eat right through out the day BUT still gets up and raids the kitchen, I wonder if it's just a HABIT???

This is TRUE!
But, would you want to live with 2 teenage girls with NO poptarts!! HA HA HA

If you prepare his meals (and he's eating enough) he should be able to stop this.

Step 1 - do as Velvett said & clear the house of the junk. You can take your kids out when they deserve a treat. That way it's a a treat & not just habit for them too.

Step 2 - look at the journals / sample diets for men that are his size. I'm sure someone can help you in the diet section.

Step 3 - Prepare his meals & pack his lunch. He should have carbs after you workout (not just chicken & a salad). He should also have protein & a healthy fat source before he goes to bed. (This could be nuts, flax etc). The fat will help to slow the digestion of the protein.

Step 4 - If he gets up to go & try to raid the kitchen, put him in a choke-hold until he goes back to sleep
