Meal before lift

So recently ive only been hittin 1/2 cup oats and 1 scoop whey at 9 am and then goin to lift at 12 empty stomach. I notice mega lack of energy sometimes if i dont kick an NOxplode or some type of eca stack prior, Should I be gettin a meal in right before hte gym or at like 11 30? a half hour before?? Ive heard from my bud that owns the gym that i should be hittin a pre workout shake of 1 scoop whey right as i leave to go there.. any advice u guys can hit me with, and if so what kind of meal should i be carb loading or just protein in that meal

I munch on a protein bar (Needto's) or some Almonds about 30min before I go. I also make sure to drink a few glasses of water about 30min beforehand also.
 
there is no food in that plan anywhere other than the oats at 9. is that your first meal of the day? you need to eat. what are your fitness goals? if its building muscle drop all that powder stuff and save it for post w/o. eat a huge meal that has real sources of protein, simple carbs, complex carbs, fruit/veggies, and fats at 9 and another pre w/o maybe minus the fats depending on your metab. then slam that shake on your way out of the gym go home and eat again.

joe d thats the realest shit anyones ever dropped on me! so fuck the whey in the am? ive been told time and time again i should slam a whey shake as soon as i wake up by all my bro's out here.. some trainers some not. what would u hit with the oats? eggs? im 278 as of last night prob like 20 % bf but definitely very very muscly just not cut up, anything other then some eggs i can hit in the morning for protein with the oats. joe i appreciate the jewels of breakfast!

I eat 6 scrambled eggs on 4 slices of ezekiel raisin toast chased down with whole milk for breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day bro. Make it count. My preworkout meal is usually 7-8oz of chicken, 12-16oz of sweet potatoes, 1oz of walnuts or almonds and at least a liter of water. This is usually 1.5 hours pre workout. I'm a little guy by you and Joe d's standards but I have to be fueled up to train. I like to have a solid four meals in me before I lift. The more the better.
 
damn so i should truley be having a pre workout MEAL not a replacement. my guys out here have been swearing that the whey is just "faster acting/digesting" for when i wake up and then go to the gym... southern joe u guys are definitely opening my eyes with this ish.. whats a good example for breakfast i used to do 1/2 cup oats and 4 egg whites. whats like 2 beastly meals u guys could reccomend (one with eggs one without) too much eggs makes me go crazy..

southern- about the nuts before lift ive been told dont eat anything with sat fats in it right before lift. I did get reccomended the nuts before and would eat a small handful before lift and noticed the diff. Dunno why a bro on here way back told me ditch the fats an hour before lift

i myself slam a shake when i get up but i slam the shake while my breakfast is cooking.

well first my breakfast is different because i sleap at 2 different times to allow more meals and less time between them. so after my long sleap of 4-5 hours i eat for protein and fats 8 whole eggs, 4 slices of turkey bacon, and 16oz of whole milk. for carbs the milk, 1 cup of oats, 16 oz of oj, for the fruit and veggie im just drinking the oj at the moment but i usualy add broccoli. and i drink water

for my pre w/o i eat steak, milk, sweat tater, nuts, broccoli or spinach, milk, water.

its important to eat the veggies and drink the water to keep things moving good. if you dont shit after every meal your not getting enough of them lol.
 
joe im definitely gonna have to start munching on some steak tips or a filetmignion before hittin the gym, any sorta timeframe before goin i should eat it ?? i always hear the 30 min rule of thumb for digestion but i dunno how you guys like to get down here. everyones opinions are diff. Im gonna try hittin up a big-ger breakfast the rest of this week see if its more positive for my weight fatwise since im trying to hold on and cut or atleast shed fat and not droppin 30 lbs of muscle again.. im wrist deep in some almonds now bout to hit the sack, preciate the help brothas

i shop ed. i spend roughly 120.00 per day but i have a wife and 4 step kids eating with me. i probably eat about 60% of the food.

ahhh.. i kind of got off subject. as far as the time frame i do about 1/2 hour but you should try different ones for a wk each to see what works for you.

for the cotting part. it sounds like you just want to trim down a little and time isnt that important? in other words your not competing in 3 months right? if you are doing what i asume you have 2 tools. cutting cals, and cardio. both will result in muscle loss. i find the best cardio to be for 20-30 minutes before your first meal 3 days per wk. for the diet i would trim it down by removing carbs from the later meals on training days and cut a little from all meals on non training days. also for your lifting sessons increase your reps and sets with a lighter weight. get a good pump and move on.

this is a process of trial and error and if your like me your going to fucking hate it. your going to have to expirament and see how you lose less. most people cant get away without losing anything.
 
lol nope no show or 3 month limit thank god, Im not even on cycle while doing this so thats why im worried about losing. Im finally incorporating cardio in the reigme tho but i hate it so its gonna be boxing for 30 min the next 3 months. hopefully this works and yo much respect to a 120$ grocery bill a day, on ef our grocery bill is how big are balls are ! what bitchhhhhh hahaha K+

i dont think boxing is a good choice for cardio. i would do legs only or full body with mininal arm use. i would also wait until i was on a mild cycle to help prevent muscle loss.

You see guys always ask in a nice way first what people really mean before you go on the attack. You will find more often then not the person is not trying to be a dick at all. lol my man needtoo!!!!!!!!! u chefed up the posts gracias ermano, dude only once in a while the inner rican comes out of me even tho I should think before acting... joe d and iggy, i really do appreciate the diet advice - u guys got me goin back to the chalkboard switchin things up.. so joe back to breakfast u ever hit up steak and eggs or oats and chicken? the oats and chicken this morning wasnt bad at all just i dont know how im gonna put down eggs the other 3 4 mornings outta the week. not so much an egg fan anymore even tho thats one of the most solid sources of protein. needtoo what do u hitup for breakfast as protein sources bro

Eggs or egg protein protein
cottage cheese
oatmeal with added protein powder and or peanut butter
yogurt with added protein powder and or peanut butter
AAAH yes a good old better protein bar works well Needtobuildmuscle.com for that one.

Slice a apple put peanut butter on top, sprinkle a little Vanilla protein powder and wheatgerm on it. thats good too.

Protein pancakes. You can top them with anything from yogurt to peanut butter or fresh fruit if you like.

More often then not this is the meal I just grab what ever the hell is handy though. Brain is not working perfect, don't feel like cooking to much, just want to grab and eat. So making it in advance is best. This is why I like the better protein bars for this.
 
I tried the bars, I cant eat just 1 or 2 so i had to ditch em LITERALLY. they taste too good to stop after 1 serving maynnnn. Im gonna try the peanut butter apple in the morning but sprinkled whey ontop could be pretty weird I tried sprinkling whey on shit before it gets all gunky. U sprinkle it on tha oats tho? whats that all about , pre micro or after?
 
steak is always good. changing the way you cook the eggs makes a big difference to.

try this one. chopped red skin potatoes, turkey bacon, eggs, bell peppers, onion all scrambled together. its a complete meal.

Cook the oatmeal and then add some vanilla protein to it. About a half serving or more. Then add a little fruit. If its a good tasting protein it will be kind of like them fruit and cream oatmeal packs you buy.
 
needto ur a f#$ckin don, i tried it this morning........ there was a night to day diff, from nasty oats to slammin oats!! i put one tblspn ANPB, half a scoop of whey and diced up green apple into a 1/2 cup of oats. SLAMMMMMMIN... Joe im gonna try your egg idea tommorow with the taters and green peps and everything
