Anyone like this training routine?

This is my new mass building routine, which I think is going to produce some great results.

Day1 - chest, tris, abs Freeweights
Day 2 - Back, bis, forearms, calves Freeweights
Day 3 - shoulders, legs, abs Freeweights
Day 4 - Off
Day 5 - chest, tris, calves Machine
Day 6 - back, bis, forearms, abs Machine
Day 7- shoulders, legs, calves Machine

I work each bodypart twice a week, abs and calves thre times each. I use heavyweights with low reps 10-8-6 or 8-6-4. and by using freewights day 1-3 and machines 4-6 I get the benefit of different range of motion , and hit each muscle in a different way each time around. I think this is going to be real good for me. What do you guys think about it?

Just my 2 cents, but I think training 6 days in a row is going ot be way too hard on your body and won't build you the kind of mass you're looking for, I rarely ever train more than 2 in a row myself.

Working out 6 days like this IMO is too much of a strain on your body. while trying to build mass. Youy need to train with fully rested muscle and with major intensity to put on good mass. That means IMO to workout all bodyparts once a week completely and eat right and rest right. When it comes to mass sometimes less is more. and its easy to overtrain and waste muscle gains. Your joints will not handle the 6 day mass routine very well either, keep that in mind.Rockett

you'll overtrain in no time at all on that routine. I personally would never train more then two days in a row, and for me, EOD seems to be best.

OK Ive edited my post to take a day off every 4th day. That look better? I cant take more than one day off at a time. I love working out and i wouldnt know what to do with myself

I'm guessing you're a newbie w/o much gym time because training like that will definitely hinder your results at best. IF you are a newbie you could probly see minimal gains just from not the initial shock of training but that would wear out quickly. When you train, your whole body is taxed (nervous, endocrine, etc.), not just the muscles you worked out that day. By training so many days per week you quickly wear out shoe internal systems and do not allow yourself adequate time to recover even if the target muscles for that day arent sore per se your other bodily systems will still be under stress and would quickly give out. You can take it or leave it, just telling you what science has found out and what I have found out through years in the gym.

Well You guessed wrong. Im not a newbie, but I do appreciate the advice. I have always worked out six days a week with heavy weights. I love to work out and it has worked for me. Many people seem to think Im overtraining so Im going to try taking a day off every 4th day. If that works then Ill stick with it. Your body will adjust to the stress you put it through. Thats how nature works. If you workout hard your body will gain strength to compensate for your daily needs. You do need time to rest though so I will tone it down a bit. Thanx

I agree with the comments on this thread - don't train more than 2 days in a row.
If you're training intensely (properly) your body can't take more than 2 successive
days of this stress. I train one on, one off, with a 3 day split.

If you prefer a 4 day split I suggest something like:
Day 1 - shoulders & bis
Day 2 - legs
Day 3 - off
Day 4 - chest & tris
Day 5 - back
Day 6 - off
start cycle again

With this sequence you'll hit each bodypart once every 6 days.

Eat like a horse, train like an animal, sleep like a baby. With your program...if you train like an animal...you will be overtrained.
