philly and nj battle it out in the east. jr is a perfect fit for philly. the west is packed. detroit, colorado, the blues - all could win it. I think the penguins and sabres fall off hard while the rangers and boston get a little better. going to be an exciting year.

Damn Detroit made some awesome moves, but the West is a minefield. ALOT of teams got better there.......... You guys are awesome I'd just worry about the grind of an 82 game season on those old timers.

the wings are absolutely stacked. if they dont win the cup this year i will be very surprised. they have loads of veterans which is crucial in the playoffs and they play a good system.

I have to admit Philly is looking very strong coming into the season - if I was a gambling man (which I am) and I had to put down a bet now, I'd give them the best shot. I don't think Detroit's Geritol approach will pan out - while "youth and skill will always be overcome by old age and treachery" I think Philly's got a better team.

Of course, blind, unthinking loyalty requires me to predict that the Leafs will win the Cup. Yes, a prediction completely unencumbered by the thought process. Seriously, if we could ever get the damn offence sorted out, we'd have a shot - at least Cujo keeps us in the hunt.

And at least the Leafs didn't overpay for Mister Overrated, #88 - I was ready to go to Toronto and dope-slap Pat Quinn if he gave away the farm for Lindros. What are the Rangers thinking, anyway? Of course, I've hated Lindros since the very beginning..."I don't want to go play for Quebec 'cause I won't get any endorsement contracts." What an egotistical moron - try earning your place in the NHL and then worrying about endorsements. Of course, if he hadn't been such a twit, his name would be on Lord Stanley's cup now.

The leafs isnt that bad a pick. Mogilny will give them some
firepower and Sundin as always awesome...they beat Van
tonight.
They need to get a bit tougher.
St Louis is another sleeper, with Pronger, MacInnis, and
Tkachuk, if they can get the goaltending issue
settled.
