Legs without free squats?

I'd rather squat with 135 than leg press or smith squat with the machine fully loaded.

That is the truth and I have always believed that. Many times in my high bar squatting days I would run into trouble doing heavy, hard high bar squats too often and my knees would ache. I would then do several sets on squats with 135 or 225 with short rest periods...THEN move to the leg press.

My workouts always revolved around the squat...I just had to vary my intensity and volume a lot.

I can't do squats because of my shoulder injury... I lack the mobility to grip the bar, and front-bar squats are just too damn awkward for me to try.

I have relied on Leg Press, Hack Squats to fulfill the squat. It's too bad, before my injury, the Squat was my FAVORITE exercise... I'm hoping, that someday, I'll be able to do it again.
