Started doing a routine that calls for both of these. Seems like they both work the same area. Can someone explain what each is doing and the difference in these?

Lateral raise works more of the side and rear deltoid. I really try and feel it in the rear since often is underworked in comparison to the front delts. Swings work much more of the front heads and depending on how are done are more of a cardio/explosive exercise.
