My mother recently suffered from a mild heart-attack, as did my uncle. They are both taking a ton of beta blockers, blood pressure meds, and other things. To put it plain, my mom fed me garbage for the first fifteen years of her life, and she herself ate garbage. My uncle, the owner of a farm, would binge eat daily. Pounding boxes of oreos, girl scout cookies, ect. Heart disease runs on my moms side of the family.

The past four years i have researched diet and anaerobic exercise thoroughly. she wonders what she should eat and she is used to eating high sugar foods daily, and barely any protein.

She has abused caffeine for years as well. I told her to cut out fructose for awhile. is that good advice?

She is overweight and i'm aiming to changing her diet. A yogurt, apple, salad, and big mac every day is not healthy.

as for my uncle he has very bad cholesterol. His doctor told him he can eat fast food 1-2 a week but cannot have a whole egg because of the bad cholesterol in it (yeah, some doctor). He has a love for red meat though. i was wondering if i could alter his diet so it would help lower his BP, and keep his heart healthier. He has a love for sweets. Southernlord, could i use myofusion protein brownies to make for him to crave his sweets addiction, or would that be bad for him.

i'm thinking of upping brown rice, oats, and yams for all of them along with veggies and high quality protein, which they all seem to lack to eat.

Thank you,

iggy

Hi iggy!

The first thing your Mother and uncle should do is to cut ALL processed foods. There's no room for error here. All foods should be whole, vegetables should be mostly organic. They should also make sure to wash the vegetables really well. They can use water and a bit of vinager to wash. Lots of vegetables.

Food should be lots of fish, turkey and chicken; in that order. NO beef!
Because of ccholesterol, your uncle should avoid shrimp as well as whole eggs. The Dr. said fast food? Sorry, they should cut the fast food. However, they can have a cheat meal once a week, but I still think the fast food should be cut out.
Coffee should be stop as well. If they need caffeine, they should have green tea. Coffee, strips away vitamins and minerals from your body among other things.

Grains, as you mentioned, oats, brown rice, in addition to quinoa, millet, etc.

They need to take a very good fish oil and to take it consistently without missing a bit. I'll K you the name later on.
Have 5 meals a day as I tell anyone. This is easier on your system and they have a lesser chance to have fats deposits.

If you want me to be more specific, please ask. You can PM me if you wish as well..
If I miss anything, please let me know. It's early..LOL!

Later..

Well Thandie pretty much hit the nail on the head with any info that I was gonna come in to offer! :)

So I will just say DITTO!

Thands is soooo right about the coffee. I cut it out a few months ago and I feel like a new, energized person.
