Is it ok to use artificial sweeteners and Crystal light on Keto diet?

Im not sure if it is or not,I guess they have no carbs but I have read somewhere that sweeteners trigger an insulin response.Would this conflict with the purpose of the Keto diet or is it ok to se sweeteners like splenda and drink Crystal light.

There's an equal amount of studies showing that it's either bad for a CKD or good. So I'd just drink water with some lemon to be safe since it's only a short term diet. You could try drinking a small amount and then check to see how it effects your ketosis. But generally for the first few weeks of the diet I'd avoid it altogether. Oh and if you use splenda, count each packet as 1 gram of carbs.

I think I am just going to go with out to s ee what happens for a while, just been getting nasty sugar or carb cravings already since everything I eat is kinda salty or just regular.

I sipped on Diet coke or pepsi with my meals and it didn't get me out of ketosis. Didn't drink the whole can though. Just enough to get the food down. Maltitol if they're in the form of those small candies shouldn't hurt. It should still be counted as 1 gram of carbs. Just stay away from those bars that say no carbs but have 15 grams of sugar alcohols, sorbitol, maltitol.... I ate really bland and stayed away from those things until after I came off the diet.

The hard part is that I get really craving something sweet because a lot of the things I have been eating seem to have high sodium content.Well today any how.

I think Dr. Skier said the same thing when he first started the diet. It goes away after a few days when you're body gets used to using fats. The first few days are a pain in the ass. I started talking back to my boss the first day I was without carbs..LOL. After a while you'll start craving fats and proteins moreso than sugars.

Yeah those cravings do go away and managing the diet (keeping sat. fats down etc) gets much easier, results come, you stop getting retarded tired etc. However today i got my gf's stomach bug and lets just say that nice omlette for breakfast and a few of those sugar free candies "jumped ship", both sides of the ship at once too... So today im cheating and im gonna find some low cal frozen yougart or something....
