intensity cycling

When you guys take a break from heavy workouts, do you just use a % of your regualr weight on a lift for 6-12 reps, or do you go real light weight and do higher reps? How many weeks of lighter intensity do you regularly do?

If I feel any lag in intensity then i take a week off to get motivated again, and to refrsh my body.

Never sacrifice intensity, no one ever got bigger or stronger by going through the motions. Changing weight is different though, take what you can normally do for 4-6 take a way 20 % and try for 12-15
example squat 300lbs for 6 now would be 240lbs for 12

Take a break from heavy workouts? I don't understand. Can you do that?

No. Like the LS said, breaks come in the form of week-long breaks after a few months of hard training. I'll never do more than ten reps in a set. Some days I might have to lower my normal weight amounts to do that, but that's it.

if i ever feel my inensity seeping away, then i know its time to change my workout around. i dont really train "heavy" in the sense..im an 8-12 rep guy..i do 12 weeks now and then with reps as low as 6..but never lower..

i like to cycle from balance/stability cycles (increasing neuromuscular efficiency) to strictly stable growth cycles. keeps my body constantly improving in one way or another.

Keep on using heavier weights except instead of stoping at 6 reps let's say, pyramid down to a lower weight, and then a again an even lower weight. 1 big set will break you through you plateaus.
