I'm an opioid addict and I fucked up

I've mentioned my addiction to Lortab (hydrocodone) on this board in the past. I used to get a bottle of 90 10 mg tabs every month from an online pain clinic. Fortunately for me (depending on how you look at it) the DEA has clamped down tight on internet doctors. The whole thing was a joke. All you had to do was fax them some medical records showing that you had a painful condition and then they just ask you what drug you want over the telephone. I used to always send MRI reports showing my rotator cuff tears despite the fact that I had surgery to repair the tears. Well, most of these places are out of business so the supply has been pretty tight. I quit using them well over a year ago.

Recently, I've been under stress and started craving hydrocodone. However, all I could manage to get my hands on was a bottle of Darvocet which is a synthetic opioid. I went on a 10 day binge. Now I've realized that I was getting close to being a hardcore abuser again. I must stop quickly! I can't stop cold turkey and go through withdrawal. That would put my job at risk. I was taking 8-10 Darvocet capsules a night for the past 10 days. The last day I got high was Friday night. I am trying to wean off. Last night I only took 2 Darvocets. It's Sunday afternoon and so far I'm not in withdrawal. I have 8 pills left. If I go at 2 a day for 3 days and then drop down to 1 a day for 4 days, do you think I can get off of this stuff without going into withdrawal. With Darvocet being a synthetic opioid instead of being made from poppy, do you think it will be easier to quit?

I need more aggressive treatment even while I'm not taking the drugs. My doctor that helped me quit sort of acted like it was all over once I got detoxed. However, detox is just the beginning of real treatment.

I've never abused pills, so I don't know what the withdrawl is like. I've heard you basically get the flu and can't function for a few days? I had some pretty unpleasant symptoms when I stopped drinking cold turkey a couple of years ago. I went from over a fifth a day to nothing. The best thing I did was go to meetings, no matter how shitty I felt. I was going a couple of times a day at the beginning. Both night meetings because that's when I'd drink. They understood and it was better than going it alone where I'd probably have thought myself out of stopping.

All I need to get a buzz is anything that tickles my opioid receptors. Unfortunately I have a very high tolerance that requires a lot of tickling.

I would suggest stopping now before they become violently mad at you for not tickling them.

For more information on the subject, I would recommend checking out www.bluelight.ru. They can be of much help with respect to opiate addiction and moving on with life.

Wow I was on 2 Darvocets at a time and I felt all high and shit I CANNOT imagine what it is like to be on 8-10 at one time. Crazy!! I noticed coming off the pain pills I had a wicked headache though. Hopefully getting off won't be too hard on you. What does it feel like on 8? Don't you just fall asleep? lol I could not stay awake when laying down on 2 I could never watch tv I would be sleeping the whole time.

quitting cold turkey/detoxing from alcohol is extremely medically dangerous. Im glad you made it out ok

hydrocodone is about 30 times stronger than darvocet.
as samoth mentioned........worthless. especially in
regards to detoxing off TRUE opioids.

you need to see a doc for this. opioid addiction is serious
business my friend and it gets worse, never better.
take a fools advice........get help NOW.

you think you have problems now?
give it 2 more years. tolerance will continue to increase
and when you try to "kick" you will experience pain and
desperation as few have. been there, done did that.....
boy o boy.

I get hyper on them for about 7 or 8 hours and then I fall asleep. Three Darvocets used to get me rocking. That shows you what kind of a tolerance you can build up with this shit.

I've been there too. My first attempt at detoxing while on Lortabs, I took Naltrexone while still high on 12 Lortabs! Naltrexone is an opiod antagonist. It binds to the opioid receptors much more strongly than the opioid. The result was instant withdrawal. I ended up being carried to the ER in an ambulance. My skin felt like it was on fire and my stomach was spinning. I had the worst diahrea imaginable. I found out later that you aren't supposed to take the Naltrexone until you've been off of any opioids for 2 weeks.
