If they were crates, and heavy, then your center of gravity would be way lower than normal, so your lower back would have to work hard to keep you from falling forward. You probably just strained it a little bit.

bros I was lifting these heavy crates the other day, and I had to carry it in front of me, like waist high kind of against my stomach...and all of the sudden my lower back is sore.

Its nothing that is really warranting a docs visit but damn...I lift alot of weight...but not in this manner. I had to kinda lean back while I was carrying and walk for a bit. Any Idea what I did wrong brothers? When carrying weight like that, should I make sure NOT to lean back?

Also, you might have to strengthen your lower back more... good mornings, and reverse hypers are great for that... I find that Zercher Squats are great too...

I thought I had a strong lower back until I used some lower back building exercises... and BOOM... my back don't hurt no more... :)

"Gym" strength is not always the same as "functional" strength.

You would be amazed at how easy it is to hurt yourself doing everyday things even when you train regularly with heavy weights.

I suspect you just used your lower back muscles in a way that they are not accustomed to being used. That's why you will hear many experienced lifters do many different ways. Hitting the targeted muscle group from different directions.
