I believe in people paying their debts, and most people DO try to pay their debts. Sometimes people get in over their head.

By the time you get to the financial stage of bankruptcy, your life has been financially fucked up pretty bad; forget about buying almost anything on credit for a decade or so.

This new law will merely empower collection agencies to be bigger assholes than they already are.

Right after you file many people get inundated with credit offers because creditors know:

1. You can't file again for 8 years
2. You don't have any debts

I worked with a guy that filed 3 years ago and he was getting them out the wazzoo.

I also believe in people paying their debts but i had to file bankruptcy a little over a year ago.

my bitch of a live in ex girlfriend (who I was supposed to get married to) took off and let me with a stack of bills and credit card debt right after my job cut my hours to shit.

When you get into trouble like that it snowballs outta control and there's no way you can pay it off.

fees get stacked on top of fees, they jack up your interest rates and over all just kick the shit outta you when you're down.

But now a little over a year later, I get all kinds of credit offers and offers for loans.

I have a ton of debt. Medical bills kill me too. I am self employed.
The thing is if I wasn't an idiot with credit cards earlier in my life none of these bills would have been a problem.
I am doing my best to pay them off. It will take years. It sucks.
If I filed ch 7 or 11 I would have to find a new job too!

There are lenders that offer 100% financing immediately out of BK. You obviously get hit with higher rates, but you can reestablish your credit pretty easily anymore.

It is possible but VERY VERY difficult and for good reason. They closed that loophole after too many recent law/med school grads filed for bankruptcy.
