I Wasnt Going To Say Anything But...i Am Hurt

If you just want to see how your squat is and are healthy enough for that, take a token deadlift and even bench if necessary and just see how the squat is going.

And I am really sorry to hear that you are hurt. Heal up brother.

B.

I discussed it with my wife and she said hell no! No token anyting. I understand too. Its gonna cost us 100 bucks or more for 2 nights of rooms. Plus food and entry is 45 bucks or so. Not to mention i gotta get another APF card. SO 200 plus dollars to do a token anythign aint gonna happen. If i could squat for free maybe.

As of now its up in the air if i do it or not. This may sound stupid but next week i have to go to the gym to see if its ok. I will bench 315 and deadlift 405. If i feel absolutly nothing i will go. If i feel it forget it. A state full power meet aint worth future injury or delay on my bench. Plain and simple. The fact that 225 did nt hurt makes me think its ok for benching.

Thanks its healin!

My thoughts is that you partially tore the fascia around the insertion and possibly herniated the tendon attachment. Complete rest and ice will help speed recovery but time is the only thing that will fix the problem. Also take some large amounts of advil(ibuprophen) to relieve the swelling and pain.

SCottsman-- Musclehed275 emailed me and was telling me his training partner is a Nurse and specializes in something (his exact words)! But told me the exact same thing. Said there was a guy who was pulling a root out of the ground in the back yard and tore the Fascia. It seems logical the pulling of the root would simulate a sumo deadlift. How much time do you think it needs to be 100%? A week and a half is or is not enough?

.

If you did tear something then a week and half is not enough time for it to heal. If you do have a fascia tear then it probably won't be fully healed for 2-4 months. These tissues have little blood flow, thus heal very slowly. I hope it's just a strain so that you can lift June 1. I'm no expert but I beleive the above time-frame is fairly accurate. Anyone else?

The time it takes to heal is directly proportional to the magnitude of the tear. An MRI can show this. Guess where you can get one?

Yes, I am still giving you shit.

:)

Well next week i will resume traingin, light. I feel it worse or it hinders me i will do something, but right now i am just chillin. It doesnt feel that bad. Imean remmeber i benched 225 on Fri, and deadlifted 225. I felt nothign benching, but could dam sure feel it pullin. So it cant be that bad if i did that much. Right?

Try a couple of weeks and then start back in super light. If you feel any discomfort you may wish to wait longer. This is an injury that can heal quickly if you leave it alone. Though if you don't you can do some permanent damage. Good luck and take care of yourself.

Jay,

I am new here to the scene so I can't really speak for experience in powerlifting, but I tell you, from my point of view max attempts are dangerous enough 100% healthy.. no way should you be competing when you can't even pull 225 without pain..you don't want to end your career on a bad note like that..it reminds me of that guy who was squatting in mid 700s with a light lower leg fracture and ended up snapping his leg completely..you could risk ripping that fascia wide open..

At LEAST go light in anything that makes it HURT.. I mean benching might be dangerous as well but if you don't FEEL it then maybe it isn't taxing the torn tissue.. as for deadlifts maybe you should stick to pulling just enough to get blood into the area to carry some nutrients..

Good luck recovering!

Maybe you should skip the trip (as disappointing as it may be) and parlay that money into some GH to regenerate some of those joint tissues..

I am going to be benching light till the next few months anyway. Cause iam now officially off season. I dont pull in training anyway. Not often anyway. I do good Am's so we'll see if benching hurts after 315 then i will do tris ext and lay off my pec movements. But even if i didnt feel much this week i have decided forget it. I aint riskin anything on a state power meet. I got some plans and numbers to get up this year and need to stay with that. I cant say iam not disappointed though. I trained really hard, and got my numbers i shot for. If i could have pulled those off in the meet i woudl really have been happy. I dont know if 2000lb would have fell. That would have to have been a perfect day. But my openers were 1860lbs. And even if i got only second attempts i would hav ebeen close to 1950lb, and i was wanting to at least hit elite.

Looking on the calender Nov is the next full power meet, and Bnech bash is the same month, so i dont knwo if its possible or not to do both but that is my goal.

And from here on out it aint balls to the wall like i was for this. Guys who are new what happen to me is a classic example of over traiing. Live and learn. Your body is human and too much will catch up to you really fast. I should hav epeaked for th is meet like my partner JImmied Dean did. Sorry Jimmie next time i will listen.

I told him were like the Father and son Bulls on the hill watching all the cows. I say "Dad lets RUN down the hill and fuck one of those cows"! He says " Son lets WALK down the hill and fuck em all"!
